Chapter TwelveRaven felt the van slowing, pulling her up from a restless sleep. Evan lay still, his head on her lap. The pain from earlier seemed to have left him and all that remained was the headache that resulted from forcibly knocking him out. She put a hand on his head and urged healing energy into him.
He stirred and after a minute his eyes opened, meeting hers before he sat up, groaning a little. “Where are we?” Evan asked.
The van came to a stop and Zero leaned out of the driver's seat. “Just outside of Richmond. I need a break.” She came back to them and squatted beside them. “It's about three in the afternoon. I've got us parked in some shade at a truck stop. I'm running inside.”
She opened the side door of the van and then pulled it shut behind her.
