While taking care of the pup Dom is still holding conversation with Levy.
The only way to describe the look on the pup’s face is simple, ( fat kid in a candy shop), I tell Dom to watch out he just earned himself a tag along, Dom stops and looks while shaking his head and laughing once he understood the excitement on Levy’s face we both laugh.
The next second we hear a woman's voice calling for Levy, Levy head shot up to see the woman, mommy mommy im here, waving his lil arms in the air.
While the woman approaches us in the common room, I've noticed that Levy hasn’t cried since Dom started chatting with him.
Made my admiration for the pup grow.
Reminding me of my son Semaj, how strong and resilient he is at overcoming battles and
moving on to the next best thing.
Jada makes it to the room and is standing in front of us, wrapping her arms around her child, she looks up and sees myself and Dom standing there talking among each other.
As I'm giving Dom instructions on what I needed him to do, I see Jada watching with curious eyes.
I stop my conversation and look at Jada, and as soon as my eyes meet hers it’s like memories just came back to life.We both greet each other in a warm embrace, Levy looks curious at both women.
Ms. Debra, mommy do ya’ll know each other? Both women nod, Jada tells Levy that we went to High School together and were really close until we went different ways after High School.
Jada asks Levy what happened and why was he running?
Levy said, when I went outside to play I saw a group of kids playing and they looked to be my age, so I went to them to see if I could join them.
They were nice at first, he said but then he said they started talking to me rude and bullying me and when one of the boys pushed me I ran and only tripped because I was looking back and not paying attention to what was in front of me, that’s when I fell.
Now here we are standing in the common room, I tell Dom I want the footage from when Levy fell back tracked from his Gran Stone house ASAP. Dom nods his head in understanding then kneels down to Levy and tells him he’ll be seeing him around soon.
Jada how about the two of you staying and hanging out with me for the weekend, we could catch up on everything and Levy could chill with the kids. Levy looked to his mom with pleading eyes, Jada smiled and said to her son ok, then she turned to me and nodded her approval.
Levy was so excited he was bouncing around.
Ms. Debra, how old are your kids? I just turned 7 a week ago.
Well Levy my oldest is Zetta, she is 8 years old and my youngest is Semaj, he is 6 years old.
Levy stood there for a second, looking up at his mom and myself.
He looked nervous for some reason, so I asked, What’s the matter, Levy?
Levy looks up at us with worry in his eyes asking, I was just wondering if all the kids were like them outside.
I stopped walking and looked at Levy and told him No, No sir, not at all but just then my pups, nieces, and nephews came through the door in the common room. I introduced the kids to Levy and they all went on their way along with Levy in tow.
Jada and I walked around outside for a while before lunch. Caught up on everything current in our lives. I learnt that Jada is also a widow; her husband recently died in a rogue attack at the Blue Rose Pack, about six months ago.
Once we were finished catching up with each other it was time for lunch, we made it back to the Main packhouse, gathered the kids in the dining area and they went on their way to the buffet line and got their food.
After lunch we went back to the common room sitting on the couch, I went to the bar and got 2 glasses of wine. Walking back over to Jada handing her a glass and sitting down next to her. I bumped her should playfully, I really do miss you Jada, you were like the only real friend I had in this pack.
She nods, I’ve missed you to hun, life be lifeing for real for real. While talking, in walks my dad, he comes right in between myself and Jada, takes a seat starting up a convo with Jada.
Then comes an aroma that I've come to know and my breath hitches in my throat. My heart is hammering in my chest, my nostrils flaring taking in the aroma of my mate, all I could do was remember my training and calm down and remember to breathe.
Sheba is going bunkers in my mind, whining and whimpering…. It’s taking everything in me to stay calm not to act on instincts. Thank God for Thai Chi, which I do every morning before my 5 miles jog. These are some of the things that have helped me ever since my mate was taken from me all those years back.
