Scarlett watched Hugo's face for any tics or other tells. Something was off, but she could not figure out precisely what. She just knew he was holding something back.
Sven stood. He tugged at his suit coat and took a deep breath. His voice dropped almost a full octave in tone. “Hugo, I'm only here as a favor. You know that unless you can guarantee that SwarmDoc will not be used for military applications—ever—then there is no deal.”
Ryan and Scarlett stood and followed. They glanced at each other, giving knowing nods. In dealing with Sven, they had both come to learn that when he took on that tone and tugged at his coat, there was no changing his mind.
