Chapter 34A deal is a deal. Unless, of course, it's not. Then it's time to punt. * * * The bus lurched from a massive pothole, launching Dax up out of his seat. When he slammed back down, pain shot through his leg like lightening. He grunted and gripped his wounded thigh. He gritted his teeth and squeezed his eyes shut until the pain subsided. The pain med patch was wearing off. He peeled off the adhesive square and slapped another one on from his pocket. After a few seconds, Dax opened his eyes and stared out the window at the passing traffic. The sinking feeling he'd had in his chest for the last few minutes deepened.
