Chapter 22An escape is not always an escape. Sometimes it's just the direction they want you to go. * * * Scarlett cranked the steering wheel hard to the left and pulled into the 'Les' Southend parking lot. She slammed on her breaks and turned the wheel the other way. Dirt and rocks showered the front of the building. The sound of debris ricocheting off the wall and spraying the motorcycles parked nearby echoed in through her cracked window. She climbed out of the vehicle, trying to ignore the chalky taste of dirt in the air from the thick cloud of dust she'd just created. Scarlett spat and held her breath until she cleared the tan cloud. The door to the bar burst open and a dozen bikers poured out.
