After the ceremony, after Crispen and I entered our temporary home and made our love official, the village turned silent. The celebrations died down, and people went home. I didn’t think I’d wake again until morning, but I was wrong. I heard the screaming and shouting getting louder and louder. I couldn’t make out the words, but someone was saying something. I slowly woke up and, in a haze, put on some clothes. I needed to know who was making so much noise. It’s probably somebody who had too much to drink, as usual. I sat up and looked over at Crispen, who was still fast asleep. I brushed the hair out of his eye and smiled as I looked at him.
