CHAPTER ELEVEN

2880 Words
Earlier "Daisy!" I heard Isabella call my name from downstairs, so I quickly put on some clothes as I was still covered by a towel after my steamy encounter with Elias. I practically ran down the stairs into the kitchen, wondering if she had more work for me to do, only to see her standing beside Elias' mother, who surprisingly had a kind smile on her face. "This is the Alpha king's mother, so you should give her all the respect you give to the Alpha king," Isabella said with a stern look, folding her arms across her chest, while Elias' mother gave me a soft smile. As usual, both were dressed elegantly, but Elias' mother had more bracelets lined with diamonds on her arms, jingling as she moved towards me. Her dark hair was tied in a tight bun on the top of her head, giving her an all-around stern aura. "Oh Isabella, there's no need to be too harsh on the poor girl and scare her away," Elias' mother said, sending a playful glare to Isabella. The two of them seem close, like best friends. "Call me Martha," she said, turning her attention back at me. I couldn't call her by her name because that was disrespectful of me, who was nothing but a slave, and I couldn't also go against her wishes because that was also disobedience and I could be punished for it. "I'm sorry I can't call you by-" I tried explaining, but she caught me off guard. "Martha will be fine, Daisy. Now stop being dramatic and sit down. I prepared this food myself just for you. " she winked, making me feel more uneasy about why a woman who was like the queen of werewolves would cook for a lowly maid like myself. Elias' mother was practically the queen, but now she was speaking so casually to me like we were the best of friends. I watched her walk to the head of the long table and sit, and Isabella followed her movement. "Take a seat," Isabella said, as I kept on standing there awkwardly staring at them. I gave her a fake smile, trying to conceal my nervousness, and I turned to see Isabella pulling the chair beside her for me to see. "I can do that myself," I said, sounding harsh. "Saying thank you will be just fine," Isabella shot back, which surprised me and made me instantly feel guilty. She has been the only one here who has been kind enough to talk to me and treat me nicely. "Thank you," I said, bowing my head, and she smirked back, making me roll my eyes internally. "Welcome to the pack Daisy, this is me welcoming you officially" Martha spoke again ginning. "Let's eat, shall we, before the food gets cold," Martha announced loudly, like she was talking to so many people. I stared at Isabella sitting beside me, eating her food peacefully, like my existence didn't bother her. "So, Daisy, how are you liking the pack so far?" Martha asked, eating her food. "It's okay," I said, poking my food, then taking a large bite into my mouth. "I was thinking we should also go check out the world outside of the pack land, go for shopping to get new clothes and all that stuff. Well since you will be living here forever, you need to know your surroundings and get comfortable," she said, and I nodded in agreement as my mouth was still full of food, and then I started to choke and cough. "I got it," Isabella said, taking me by surprise, and my eyes widened when she offered me a glass of water to drink, which I took immediately. "Thank you," I said this time more sincerely while looking at her like she grew two heads. "I figured you would need a friend here," she shrugged. Did she just offer to be my friend? "So let me cut to the chase, are you Elias, mate?" Martha asked with a smirk that was identical to that of her son. My eyes widened in surprise, and a blush crept to my cheeks at her bluntness. The spoon in my hands fell to the ground. "No, ma'am, we are just....good friends," I said to her, choosing my words carefully. Why did his mother think we were mates? Did he tell her that he had found his mate? And also, didn't he mention at one point that his mate was dead? What I wanted to say to Martha was that your son had asked me to be his lover instead of his maid. I couldn't tell her that because that was a private business between me and Elias. "You are the alpha king are just friends? The alpha king has no friends," Isabella asked, snorting in disbelief. "Well, we aren't really friends, but we aren't enemies either," I said, finishing up my food. This was the longest conversation I have had with anyone other than Elias, and a part of me was happy to see that I was getting along with them, but I wasn't comfortable with the topic being discussed. "Daisy, are you listening to me?" Martha asked, and I shook my head, then remembered where I was currently, which was in the kitchen with her and Isabella. "Yes, I'm sorry, ma'am," I replied, trying to stop daydreaming about the incident that happened earlier with Elias. "Are you sure you're okay, dear?" Martha asked, as she stood up from her chair and walked towards me, the sound of her heel clicking on the marble floor. "Yes," I replied, forcing a smile. "Let's take a walk to the garden, just you and me, Daisy, while you get some fresh air," Martha said, pulling me up from the chair, and we both walked to the garden. "How old are you?" Martha asked looking at me. She held my hands, and we stared at all the beautiful flowers planted in the garden. "25," I replied, touching a red and white rose. "You love flowers, don't you?" Martha asked in amusement. "Yes, I do," I said, smiling at the flowers. Seeing flowers reminded me so much of my mother. I missed her. "You are pure and different—just what my son needs," she said in a whisper, and my eyes widened. She gave me a laugh, and my brows furrowed in confusion of what she meant by that statement before I followed behind her as she walked around her beautiful garden, only for my jaw to drop at the sight of Steven walking from a distance. He had an evil smirk on his face, and his eyes were red from glaring at me. My heart dropped and then sped up in fear as Steven walked closer, still staring at me, which made my stomach sink in horror. He approached us and stood before Martha, bowing his head like a loyal dog. I tried sending a panicked look towards Martha so she could see I didn't want him to get too close to me, but she did not understand my sudden reaction and gave me a confused look. "Your highness," Steven greeted sweetly as he stood in front of us, which made me sick. "Hello Steven," she responded, patting his back. "I was told by the pack doctor to remind you about some rouge children who need your attention urgently," he said, and Martha turned to me, touching my hands lovingly, and gave me an apologetic look. Please don't leave me with this beast, I silently pleaded in my mind. "oh Daisy, I just remembered how important it is for me to be there with the children, but don't worry we will continue our conversation later she winked and walked out of the garden leaving me with him. I watched her walk until she disappeared into the distance, and suddenly, my hands were snatched from behind me as a bulky-looking man roughly grabbed them; he also had red eyes like Steven, and I have never seen him before in this palace. I squirmed under his tough form, but it proved to be of no use because he was twice as strong as I was, and he started dragging me out of the garden to an unknown location. "W-wait! Where are you taking me to Steven?" I screamed, looking between him and the bulky man, who smirked evilly and offered no reply, and kept on dragging me while Steven watched as I was being dragged away like a rag doll. The bulky man kept walking down deeper into the woods, far away from the pack house, then his feet stopped in front of a door that led to a secret room. My heartbeat sped up at the thought of being alone with Steven, knowing fully well what he is capable of and what he could do to me. I promised myself to always stand up for myself and never be intimidated by him or anyone, but right now the fear of being killed like a rat made me scream and beg for my life. I felt like my lungs were about to give up and my heart was slowing down. This time I couldn't contain my screams, hoping Elias or Martha would come help me, yet no one came to my rescue. Even though I was basically a slave to this horrible park, I thought I could fit in and live a normal life; after all, that was one thing I had always wanted to do after being isolated for so long and living alone with my dad, but now I'm going to die as a slave. The bulky man roughly grabbed my hand to get me off the floor and pulled me away from the hundreds of battered faces that were staring back at me through their metal chains; he also tried using one of his hands to cover my mouth and stop my screams, but I kept on yelling and begging Steven to let me go, shouting on top of my lungs, but he ignored me. The guard kicked the door open and threw me inside a cage, and my back ached in pain. I made an attempt to escape by crawling, but as soon as I entered, the pain of being dragged on the floor began. I used my hands to wipe my tears, and my mouth was weak from crying, so I was unable to even let out a sob. "You think you are special b***h," Steven said walking up to me and kicking my stomach which made me groan in pain and silently wondered what I ever did you him to deserve all this hate. "You think that just because you spend time with the Alpha King and his mother, you won't obey my command and will look down on me," He laughed mockingly and picked up a silver whip, which made my eyes widen in fear. "What did I ever do to you," I managed to screamed out and he held my head down while he delivered the first whip. I screamed out in pain, but he shoved my head onto the dirty, cold floor. "You still have the guts to talk back at me, huh, you little b***h. I will show you who your real master is," He roared, and the next whip landed on my inner thigh, making me crouch down, and he stomped his foot against my injured back. "Count!" He yelled and struck me against my shoulder blade. At this point, I have stopped crying and kept on howling out of pain. "Is this the best you can do, Steven? You hit like a girl," I snapped, and then received another hit, this time breaking my lungs. "I said count!" The Steven called at the top of his voice and kicked my head for the disobedience. I screamed and cried in agony, praying to the moon goddess to send help to me, but as usual I had no luck, so I had no choice but to be obedient to him. "O-one." I managed to yell, and my throat hissed in pain, and he kept on whipping my body, then he whipped the side of my neck. T-two." I cried out. At this point, my voice was almost unrecognizable. He carried another whip, this time hitting the side of my kidney and I could feel the hit pierce my skin. I would have sworn I saw a part of my bone sticking up, but I was in too much of a daze to complain. "Three." He continued for a while, and at one point I lost count and stopped thinking of being whipped. My mind drifted to Elias, wondering where he would be and what he was doing, which gave me the strength to go on. "This will teach you a great lesson on where you belong and who your true master is. Not even the alpha king can save you, and if you tell him anything, then I will kill him myself while you watch him slowly die." He threatened and left me alone, which I was thankful for. I was surprised I didn't pass out with every hit he gave me, I was begging my wolf to let me black out but she never did, and with her strength I was wide awake for each second of the torture. I felt paralyzed as I lay on the cold floor in the same position in which he flogged me. I was finally happy I was completely out of misery and torment, yet my thoughts still found a way to circle back to Elias. My heart ached from missing him and I wondered how he would react once he found out what Steven did to me. Would he care? He didn't even come to save me, the only thing he cared about was my body and me being his lover. He just wanted to use me to satisfy his lust. I suppose it didn't matter because I also felt lust for him. I couldn't deny that I liked him more than j should and wished he was my mate, even if he didn't feel something deeper for me. I didn't know how long I had to stay down here or when I fell asleep on the cold, hard floor, but when I woke up, I found myself on the floor in the garden. It was night, so I sat on the floor watching the moon, which seemed to calm me. Maybe Steven was right—I was stupid to think that I was special. just because I got little attention from the alpha and his mother. Maybe if I just kept doing my job and never spoke to Elias, I wouldn't be here. I was stupid to think that Elias and I could be together, even just for a moment. I was stupid to think that I could be his mate. His queen. I let out a sigh, standing up from the grass, as I admired the garden, which I had been interrupted earlier from doing so by Steven. This place reminded me of the little farm I had back home. I suddenly felt someone's presence behind me, and fear gripped me, thinking it was Steven, and he came back to finish what he started. I quickly turned around in fear to see, instead of a horrible face, an angelic face of a certain Alpha, who had been occupying my thoughts, shining under the night sky. His face held the same devilish and proud smirk, but as soon as he saw my tears, the smirk dropped as worry and confusion took over his face. He took steps towards me before stopping inches away from me. His worried blue eyes looked directly at me, trying to read my green eyes, but I kept my face blank. If he found out what happened, he might be killed by Steven and his men. The thought of Elias dying didn't settle well with my soul. The moon light glowed and he looked just like an angel who came down to earth to drag me away from this hell. His two hands held my cheeks softly in between them. This time, I didn't back away but leaned more into his soft touch like a kitten craving comfort. His thumb softly rubbed my cheeks. His cold blue eyes never left my green ones. His eyebrows furrowed in worry. I could feel his minty fresh breath, his rich cologne, and his warmth soothing my mind, heart, and body. A small smile made its way onto my lips as I kept looking into his blue eyes, seeking more comfort and warmth. "Why do you have blood stains on your shirt," I couldn't help but ask the alpha before me in worry, who comforted me in his arms silently. "Why are you worried about me when you are hurt? Now tell me who did this to you." The alpha male growled. I forgot for a second that my clothes were torn from being whipped and my body was covered in bruises. I haven't covered the evidence of being tortured by Steven. I didn't know if this was a good thing or a bad thing.
