Before I knew it months had passed and I needed to report to the big city to enroll for my tertiary education. The name the Big City held alot of weight in the village. My aspiration for applying to an institution in the said place is because I needed to be close to my baby. Back when I was applying for the placement I was still in good terms with Bruce and every step was an aspiration to get closer to him.
It was late at night when we boarded the vehicle. It was an eight hour journey. Halfway through the journey, I turned to my dad and said, "how much longer, let's just head back if we can't make it"
My dad chuckled having no way to respond. The long journey came to it's end at the wee hour. I got my new phone out scrolling through as we sat on an isolated stool waiting up.
My brother was coming to pick us up. Music blasted followed with neon lights and once in a while a drunk person majority being ladies would make their way through. This was expected despite it being my first time, I had heard dreaded stories on how the big city was.
"Keep the phone away," a voice boomed, " this is the city, it's unsafe."
I grumpily slid my phone into the pocket. The cold was bone chilling and driving me crazy. " How much longer?" I thought stubbornly.
"Want some coffee," the voice came up again. This was my travel companion, my dad, Mr Duncan Okello. I could feel my intestine dancing with joy. I did want some coffee I wanted it soo bad.
"Yes," I simply responded.
Not long after my brother made it and we made our way to his place waited till the morning light came up before making our way to the institution I had been accepted in. I was going to pursue a business course. The town had woken up, it was noisy.
"O.G,,,,,,O.G," I could hear them shout that was my cue,the vehicle to my designated destination. I hoped in with my dad and my brother dragging my luggage behind me.
The admission process was draining with alot of requirements to fulfill. I had reported late making it easy to be served but still finished the process very late.
Looking for a room was the struggle, having arrived late I had outgrown the first year favor and I was in the mix of the other students struggling to obtain a room. After struggling for 5hours I eventually managed to land a room when I least expected courtesy of my beloved brother, Abel.
This was a new milestone for me.
