Sophie stood in front of the grand entrance of Ethan Blackwood’s mansion, her heart raced in anticipation. She had officially moved into his mind blowing estate a few days ago as part of our contract marriage, a unique arrangement that had started as a business deal but was quickly shifting into something more complicated. Tonight was our first big event together—a charity gala that promised to be filled with glitz, glamour, and, most importantly, there would be so many of people who wouldn’t hesitate to judge our relationship. Ethan stepped out of his office, dressed perfectly in a tailored suit that accentuated his broad shoulders and lean posture. ethan looked every bit of a billionaire, exuding confidence with an air of charm that made my heart flutter. “Ready for this?” he asked, a teasing smile playing on his lips. Ready as I’ll ever be Sophie replied, trying to match his calm exterior with my own enthusiasm. As we walked out the door I couldn't shake the feeling that tonight would change everything between us. The party was held in a lavish ballroom filled with twinkling lights and sophisticated decor As we entered heads turned and whispers filled the air. Ethan introduced me to those who approached us, and I did my best to keep my composure. The weight of our contract felt denser in the spotlight, and I focused on being the cooperative wife he needed for the evening. As the night came by Ethan and Sophie found a quiet corner away from the crowd. You look stunning Sophie he said his gaze lingering on my face I felt a blush creep up my cheeks. Thank you. You’re not so bad yourself, I replied, trying to hide my nerves behind a smile. Amidst the partying and clinking of glasses, there was a moment of calmness between us. Our eyes locked and a spark ignited Without thinking I reached out and brushed my fingers against his arm He leaned in closer and before I knew it, our lips met in a soft, sensual kiss The world around us faded away and for a while it felt as if we were the only two people in the building space It was a kiss that held promises of something deeper something real. But just as soonly as our moment began it was interrupted a familiar voice was heard through the crowd like a knife Ethan darling There you are Sophie turned to see a stunning woman with long, flowing hair and an air of confidence that can rival even. Behold It was his ex-girlfriend Claudia I had heard about her the glamorous model who had once been the center of his world As she proceeded forward I felt a knot tighten in my stomach. Claudia Ethan greeted her his tone neutral but his body tense Lovely to see you, Claudia said her gaze flicking Sophie me, And who is she? I straightened up, determined to hold my ground. I’m Sophie Ethan’s wife I said, infusing confidence into my voice. Her laughter was sharp and disintegrating. Oh a marriage contract, huh? How interesting she turned to Ethan feigning innocence You’ve really lowered your standards, haven’t you? I could feel the heat rising in my cheeks, a blend of anger and embarrassment. I’m not here for his money Claudia Sophie shot back my voice steadier than I felt. I’m here because I choose to be. Claudia’s smile shattered for a moment, but she quickly regained her composure. Oh darling I’m sure you think that But it’s hard to believe someone like you could be with someone like him without an ulterior motive. Ethan interfered, placing a protective hand on my back. That’s enough. Claudia Sophie is more than capable of standing on her own Sophie doesn’t need your judgment. That's it huh? She replied, her eyes narrowing. I wonder how long it will take before you know that you’re just a gold digger playing house. The words stung, and I felt a wave of insecurity and embarrassment flow over me I had worked so hard to carve out my own identity and yet here I was being framed as someone who only wanted Ethan for his wealth. Stop it, Claudia Ethan said, his voice firm. You don’t know anything about her. Maybe not, but I know you Claudia, snapped back And I know you’ll get bored by this little arrangement sooner enough. I glanced at Ethan, searching for reassurance in his eyes. He met my gaze and the warmth in his expression made me feel a little stronger. Let’s go he said taking my hand and leading me away from Claudia. As we moved through the crowd I could still feel her gaze on us a lingering sense of judgment that made my skin crawl. Once we were outside the cool night air hit my face and I took a deep breath trying to calm my racing heart I’m sorry about her ethan said his voice low you didn’t deserve that. It’s okay Sophie replied though the hurt lingered. It just… it makes me question everything. I don’t want to be seen as a gold digger. Ethan turned to sophie his expression serious. You’re not You’re smart talented and you bring so much to the table I chose you for a reason Sophie. Ethan's words hung in the air and I felt a flicker of hope But what if people don’t see that? What if they only want to see what they want to? Let them think what they want Ethan said drawing closer What matters is how we feel about each other This contract may have started as a business arrangement but I want you to know that I’m beginning to see you as so much more. In that moment the barriers between Sophie and Ethan began to crumble I reached up to touch his cheek and he leaned into my hand I want this to be real Ethan,Sophie whispered. He nodded, his blue eyes searching mine So do I. As the night deepened I realized that despite the chaos around us something beautiful was unfolding Our kiss had sparked a connection that was undeniable and even Claudia’s harsh words couldn’t set-off the flame that was igniting between us. With Ethan by my side I felt ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead Together we could rewrite the narrative of our contract marriage changing it into a love story that defied expectations and embraced the possibilities.
