The dorm room was quiet and dimly lit.
Lucy sat at the edge of her bed staring at her bruised wrist beneath the soft glow of her study lamp. The dark purple marks looked worse now. Every time she looked at them, she could still feel Adrian’s fingers digging painfully into her skin.
Her chest tightened again.
She hated that even after everything, a part of her still wanted him to care.
The sound of the dorm door swinging open suddenly broke the silence.
“Lucy, you will not believe what happened at the mall—”
Zoe stopped halfway into the room the moment she noticed Lucy sitting silently in the dark.
Her smile disappeared immediately.
“Lucy?” Zoe asked softly, quickly dropping her shopping bags near the door. “What happened?”
Lucy didn’t answer right away.
Instead, she slowly pulled back the sleeve of her dress and revealed the bruises on her wrist.
Zoe gasped dramatically.
“Oh my God.”
She rushed over instantly and grabbed Lucy’s hand carefully.
“Lucy, what happened to you?” Zoe’s eyes widened. “Did you fall somewhere?”
Lucy’s lips trembled. “It was Adrian.”
The moment his name left her mouth, tears filled her eyes again.
Zoe’s expression darkened immediately “What do you mean it was Adrian?”
Lucy finally broke down.“He saw me talking to Jonathan after class,” she whispered shakily. “He didn’t even let me explain. He just got angry and grabbed me…”
Tears rolled down her cheeks.“He said I was pathetic.”
Zoe immediately wrapped her arms around her.
“Oh Lucy…” she whispered softly while rubbing her back. “I’m so sorry.”
Lucy cried harder against her shoulder. “He said I was embarrassing him,” Lucy sobbed. “He said I was ruining both our families’ reputation.”
“What is wrong with him?” Zoe muttered angrily. “Stress or not, this is too much.”
Lucy wiped at her tears helplessly. “I don’t understand what happened to him,” she whispered painfully. “He used to love me.”
Zoe’s eyes flickered slightly at those words before softening again.
“Come here,” she said gently. “Let’s hide the bruise before anyone sees it.”
Zoe stood up and walked toward the small vanity table beside her bed. She picked up a tube of concealer before returning to Lucy.
“Your father would completely lose his mind if he saw this,” Zoe said carefully while dabbing makeup over the bruises. “Especially with the business situation right now.”
Lucy stayed quiet. The mention of her father’s failing company only made her feel worse.
Zoe continued covering the marks carefully.
“When I see Adrian,” she said softly, “I’m going to talk sense into him. He can’t keep treating you this way.”
Lucy looked at her gratefully. “Thank you, Zoe,” she whispered. “You’re honestly the best friend I could ever ask for.”
A strange smile crossed Zoe’s lips. “Anything for you, Lucy.”
—————————
Two hours later, Zoe was sitting in Adrian’s private apartment. The room was clicked shut.
Adrian was standing shirtless opposite her.
“You made her cry Adrian.”Zoe said as she tossed her purse on his bed and undid her shoes.
“I didn’t mean to bruise her. She just kept talking about that useless scholarship boy” Adrian said angrily.
Zoe stood up seductively swaying her hips, she traced Adrian’s bare chest with her fingers and wrapped her other arm around his neck. “Oh Adrian, don’t feel guilty. Matter of fact, you should be angrier. She deserves it. She told me she likes Jonathan, that he’s the only one who cares for her”
Adrian became even more angry. “She said that?”
“Yes,she’s playing you Adrian. She knows you won’t leave her because your parents businesses are tied together. “
Adrian’s eyes got darker. He needed to reclaim his dominance, to pour out his anger on something else. He looked down at Zoe and saw the same hunger in her eyes. Unlike Lucy who looked at him wanting love and affection, Zoe looked at him with extreme lust and the invitation to ruin.
Without saying anything else, he kissed Zoe aggressively. Zoe pulled his hair and moaned into his mouth. Adrian’s lust increased immediately and pulled her against him, while violently undoing the buttons of her shirt.
Some of the buttons ripped off and fell to the ground. Soon, they were both naked. He lifted her and pinned her to the wall, his mouth claiming every part of her body. Zoe wrapped her legs around him to draw him closer. She arched her back as he bit the sensitive part of her neck.
Tell me," Adrian growled against her skin, his hands roaming over her curves with a rough possessiveness. "Tell me she doesn't matter."
"She’s nothing," Zoe , her breath became uneven. he pushed her skirt up her thighs. "She’s doesn’t care Adrian. I’m the one who cares. I’m the one that’s here."
The room was filled with the sound of heavy breathing as Adrian thrust harder into her. On the glass window, a fog began to form from the heat of their skin. Zoe met his intensity with her own, her nails leaving red long marks in his shoulders and back, a silent mark of her victory.
When it was over, they lay tangled in the silk bedsheets, the room became silent.
Adrian stared at the ceiling, the adrenaline had faded. All he felt was emptiness.
Zoe leaned on her elbow, tracing a finger over his chest. "She’s planning to meet him again tomorrow night," she whispered, her voice back to its sweet and manipulative tone. "At the library. Late."
Adrian’s eyes hardened again. The emptiness was gone. “Let her go, I’ll teach her a lesson. “
