Chapter 19 Hana drove home, struggling with the breakneck drive through the mountains to the hotel. Low lights traced out a path to the front door and Logan carried the baby up the spiral staircase to their private floor. Hana rubbed her bare arms as he laid Phoenix in her drawer and covered her in a blanket. “Autumn is coming,” she whispered, her voice containing a faint sadness. Phoenix snuggled after stretching her tiny body backwards and raising her arms above her head. Hana watched, stroking her cheek. “She’s perfect. We’re so lucky.” She pulled the blanket back over the baby’s arms. Logan turned the main lights off and Hana slipped out of her dress and climbed into bed. “The end of summer makes me miserable,” she mused, burrowing beneath the blankets. “Hell of a summer.” Logan str
