Chapter 25 Tama ran harder than he ever had in his life, his lungs gasping for oxygen as he dodged traffic and sped towards River Road. His mind conjured up a mental image of the city and he located Day’s Landing, calculating the shortest route there. Exhausted, he dropped into a steady jog, his long legs covering the ground and his body fatigued with the extreme heat. His watch ticked nearer to three o’clock and he forced terrible thoughts from his fertile imagination. Cutting through a children’s playground, Tama found his way to River Road and jumped a metal railing to land on the pavement. His right ankle complained, but he didn’t stop.
