[Irene’s POV]
Ryu widened his eyes.
“That voice,” he said, looking at me with a baffled expression. “Irene… that voice…”
“Elvin?” Virgil said. My and Ryu’s head snapped towards Virgil and then at the ceilings of the cave.
“Elvin?” Ryu called out. “Is that you?”
“Why are you here?” Elvin repeated his sentence.
“We were…” Virgil held my hand and shook his head. I was going to tell Elvin the truth, but stopped at Virgil’s signal.
“Irene wants to meet Alpha Theo’s soul. She wants to see him for just one last time,” Virgil said.
“Why are you with her?” Elvin asked.
“I am ashamed of my past so I am here to repent showing her the way to heaven,” Virgil said, and I squinted my eyes.
“Don’t lie to me. You are here for Zane. To save him,” Elvin said.
