Once everyone had taken their documents, Governor Ken, who I will have to call Sir. I’m pretty sure he will get tired of me constantly calling him Governor, his business associate Grant and Mason drove me to my mom’s house.
When I saw the limo that was waiting outside the school I had my jaw opened. I wasn’t expecting to be in a limo. Out of all cars in the world I was riding a limo.
Still having my mouth opened, Mason stopped beside me to close my mouth as he snickered over my reaction. I looked at him with wide eyes of amazement and realized I might be overreacting since I have never gotten in a fancy car, let alone a limo.
Driving to my house I reacted like a little kid. As Grant asked if I was thirsty for some water. After saying yes, he took a small bottle from a small fridge next to him and I gasped because that actually surprised me. It made the rest of the people in the limo chuckle at my reactions, but I couldn’t hide how I felt.
Arriving I saw cops around the wooden house that looked lonely in between the other houses. Its paint of light blue with white was pealing off and was giving it a worn out look.
Walking out of the big soft limo, I entered the house alongside Mason and Grant. I went straight to the bathroom first and after finishing cleaning up the small rooms I said to them, "All that is missing are my documents. Once I have them, I will meet you outside and leave this dump.”
Mason took the last boxes and I went to my mother's room to retrieve my documents. Which she had kept in a shoe box. I knew she hated me, but I must have minimized how much she truly hated me and I could not believe it was this much.
Reaching for what is left of my papers, I noticed they have been gradually torn apart and burned. My papers have been slowly destroyed by my own mother.
In shock, I stood up and began looking around for another shoe box, completely unaware that my mother had been destroying all forms of my identification.
Since I could not find any more of my documents, I then began trashing my mother's room. I was desperate to find any evidence of me. The information of my health that clearly stated all of my issues. That what I lived with was real and finding nothing. I shouted to anyone who would listen and no one at all.
"This cannot be happening!" There must be a spare!”
While attempting to open a stupid shelf from the dress, I felt a nail impail my hand.
"Ah!”
Pulling my hand, the nail tore me while I shouted aloud. I began to cry from the pain, but to my horror, the floor was covered in my blood and the door I had closed opened with a hard thud. I looked behind me to see Sir Ken entered with a worried expression.
He approached me and took my hand before issuing a command.
"Close your eyes. I am taking you to the hospital right after I try to help you, but you must close your eyes until you are examined by a doctor at the hospital, am I clear? Now close them.”
Without further ado, I did as he instructed. Closing my eyes, I felt a tongue lick my hand. My hand was beginning to feel strange. As if something was stitching itself together, but it was going very slowly.
The sensation was similar to being taken to the hospital to have my cut treated, but much slower. Like the reverse reaction of pealing dead skin from one's body. I felt the strong hands of Sir. Ken pick me up in a bridal style and then take me out of this room. Which caused me to speak in a nervous tone with my eyes shut.
"Wait! My papers have been ripped and burned. They are my birth and medical records and I need them. My mother was destroying them.”
My face was resting on Sir Ken's chest and I swear he growled before changing his tone to say something embarrassing.
"Sorry for my stomach. My body must have decided to mirror yours from earlier. Let me send someone to get some food and once we arrive at the hospital. It will be beneficial to everyone, including your health.”
I heard a car door open and Mason speak in a surprised tone. As I felt his hands on my shoulder, "What happened?!”
Ken responded a little too quickly, but I knew he was annoyed with what I did.
"She was looking for her medical records and birth certificate.”
Hearing his tone, I could not understand why he was annoyed by what I did. Those were my most important documents and I no longer had them. Didn’t he care about those issues as a governor?
Setting myself in the seat, I hear someone rip something and the bleeding hand is moved to begin being wrapped in a cloth when I hear Mason respond, "I will take her to the hospital while everyone here finishes as you have stated and the food will arrive just in time too. I will ask Lu, I mean I will let your wife know Governor.” Ken responded shortly after with the same annoyed tone. "I will see you both there. I informed Sora so she could be with you both while I fix this and get some answers.”
Ken must have closed the door and I felt the car move. Not long after we arrived at the hospital. Mason kept changing the cloth on my hand while we were in the car. I’m not sure how he made more than one, but I was grateful for his support and he was really fun to talk to. We talked a little of everything with each other, but he sounded very shy when he spoke to me.
He asked once and then asked again after a long pause. So I am assuming he is shy to some extent. The way he was acting was extremely strange. It was not something I would enjoy having if it was a regular occurrence between us as it felt forced.
We came to a stop and the door opened. Allowing Mason to help me out before leading me to the front of the hospital. I was not allowed to open my eyes until the doctor saw my hand and I didn’t want to get Sir. Ken angry at me.
Mason helped me to get out of the limo and abruptly stopped me to speak with someone in front of us both which made me realize we were inside the hospital.
"She needs to see a doctor because a misplaced nail has caught her hand and she has a variety of health issues. Can you help her? We gave her some assistance, but it did not fully cover her injury.”
A nurse responded quickly after what I am assuming was drinking something. Her sultry voice clearly being seductive towards Mason or she was content with whatever she drank. I’m not sure as I had my eyes shut.
Keeping my eyes closed was not an easy task. In any case, my curiosity about what was going on around me was killing me. The only reason I did not open my eyes was to not piss Sir Ken, but now the pain in my hand made it clear to obey my orders. Which did not help my curiosity at all at the same time because I wanted to see what Sir. Ken did that has been helping me.
I was wondering why all the while I did not pay attention when the nurse moved to take my hand and I even tuned out of what they were saying. Which made me very worried.
Was I losing too much blood?
If I was, I was beginning to disconnect from my surroundings in order to calm my mind, that must be the reason.
After walking into another room, I had been seated in a chair and soon heard the voice of another person."Miss Cooper in the meantime, I will be your doctor and I will not ask any questions other than your blood type.”
Hearing this person right now, I regretted not knowing my blood type. This was not going to be easy. So I took a deep breath and told him everything, to which I heard him respond shortly after. "I will sew you up and then I will have you drink some fluids to help you heal faster. Hopefully, you will be discharged within an hour if I find your charts on time, but if not it will be a bit longer, please remain still.”
I let out a sigh, but winced at the poking needle that was sewing my hand back together. It was excruciatingly painful, but if I was going to get better, this was my best chance.
When the doctor finished, I opened my eyes to see my hand was completely wrapped up, how strange. The doctor took his clipboard and walked away from me, leaving me with Mason, who appeared uncomfortable. I looked his way and began talking to him, hoping that this brief conversation would help us avoid being strangers.
"I didn’t want to be honest to you, but I am not that bad, right? I think this went well. Do you have any idea where our food is? It could help my body feel better sooner. I followed Ken's orders, so we should be fine.”
I kept on blubbering at Mason as he exhaled he smiled at me to say. "Yeah, it is on its way. I apologize for being such a bad friend right now. We do not talk much and the time we are talking now feels strange, but in a good way. I hope that makes sense.”
I smiled and responded to him with a little too much enthusiasm. "I agree, talking makes things easier and helps us grow in our friendship.”
A couple of moments later, we see a woman walk in with some food for us both and we eat together while the good doctor gathers my medical records to document this incident. I was relieved when I was given a copy of my documents.
I could breathe a lot easier knowing I would have my documents on paper rather than the nightmare my mother had been doing. I had everything with me, which kept me clam.
Nothing about this makes sense to me. It did not help me understand my mother's motivations on burning my documents, but given that she has been arrested. I am going to assume she is insane, which will provide a very twisted version of closure in me.
The woman in my room brought me some clothes after we finished eating. They were simple clothes for now. I saw the woman walk Mason out of this room and as she looked back at me she said “I’m Sora, I’m glad to see you are enjoying yourself a bit. I’m sorry that the dress you had on from the limo was ruined, but I hope these new clothes are to your liking we will be waiting outside for you dear.”
Once she was outside I appreciated her warm help, but wondered about why she picked these for me. Before she left I asked her “Why am I being changed to these clothes when I’m going to your house tomorrow?”
Sora replied with a small giggle. "Oh, we are leaving, but I want the staff to know who you are. I want to help you settle in and look around our home, dear. There is a lot we need to address and one thing I can start with is that our home, one must always be dressed to impress.”
She poked my nose with her index finger which caused me to move my nose and eliciting another giggle from Sora. Before turning to the door and after she shut the door, I changed into my new clothes, which felt warm.
