CHAPTER THIRTY THREE Unlike some of Keri’s many hospital visits, this one only lasted twenty-four hours. The doctors determined that none of her injuries required more than an overnight precautionary stay. She had bruising on her chest from the punch there. Her knee was swollen but there was no structural damage. Despite being hit twice in the head, she didn’t have a concussion. They had worried that she had an orbital bone fracture near her right eye. She’d gotten that same injury to her left orbital bone in a prior confrontation with another abductor last year. But she’d gotten off lucky this time—only a puffy, purple face.
