I almost drive off the two-lane road.
“What are you talking about?”
Harmony’s eyes widen, bright with the hint of tears. “I followed you today. On my bike. I didn’t mean to, but when I saw you leave, I wanted to make sure you were OK, so I pedaled behind your car—you drive really fast, by the way—but when I didn’t find you at your cabin, I went back to the road and followed it to the end. That’s where I saw this car parked in front of the forest.”
My hands grip the wheel so tight, my knuckles whiten. “And?”
“I hid my bike in the tall grass, behind that big patch of blackberry bushes, and I snuck through the woods. When I heard voices, I stopped walking and hid.”
