Katie's mouth fell open, anger filling her eyes.
“Wowowow” Roxanne said, stepping between us hands up in the air. “We cannot do this here.”
“f**k her. You think he's going to want you when he finds out you're a virgin? Get real Stacey. And Roxanne, I see you making eyes at Craig. I can guarantee you, you are not his type.”
“f**k you Katie.” Roxanne replied, grabbing my hand we walked out of the bathroom.
“I cannot believe you called her out like that. Props to you. But she is being a wicked b***h. Don't let her get to you. I mean seriously, things are just starting with Steven. You have no idea where they will go.”
“I know.” I replied back to her as we headed back to the table.
“But we do need to talk about John, and what you’re going to do.” She quickly replied.
I nodded as we reached the table.
Sitting down across from Steven, his eyes caught me off guard, making my body straighten, and catch my breath. Daggers of desire penetrating my soul. Did he want me as much as I did him? It sure felt that way.
Katie walked back up to the table, taking her seat next to Roxanne acting like nothing happened.
I grabbed the menu and decided on a black and blue burger, the more blue cheese the better. I wasn’t the type of girl to not eat just because I was with a boy I liked. The travel toothbrush and paste that I carry with me willing finally come in handy.
Once we placed our food order, Roxanne started a conversation for the whole table.
"So, we don’t know much about you guys," she stated.
I smiled as Steven reached across the table & took my hand within his. My eyes flicked up to him, Craig responded "Well, as you can tell my brother is a ladies man and likes to make out in parking lots" I blushed and Steven stroked his thumb over my skin.
"Ha, well apparently Stacey does too" she laughed back. I side kicked her under the table & just smiled at her.
"You are seniors, right? Obviously at NoHo high"
Craig nodded, "Thankfully, our last year!"
Roxanne went on to clarify that we were all 18 and also in our senior year at EHS. She continued the small talk, Steven and I responding when need be. But we were focused on each other, I could feel the fire burning between us.
Our burgers finally arrived and I realized just how hungry I was.
We ate and continued chatting. I could see sparks flying between Roxanne & Craig. The giddy showing in her eyes, all while Matt and Katie had said very little during the meal.
When the bill arrived the three boys were quick to insist on paying for us.
We agreed, but told them that next time it would be on us.
I made a quick stop in the bathroom before heading out, making good use of my mini travel bag.
Climbing into the bronco, my stomach filled with butterflies. I was nervous, I didn’t know how to act now with Steven. We had an amazing make out session only an hour before, and he had reached for my hand waiting for our food.
Snapping me out of my thoughts, Steven had sat next to me and took my hand within his again. This time, tangling his fingers with mine.
I looked at him and smirked, I was greeted by his half smile and the butterflies grew to hundreds. The way the moonlight shone on his face and danced in his eyes really took my breath away.
"Matt’s having another party Saturday" he said staring at me but directing the comment to both Roxanne and I. "If you guys want, we can give you a lift...that is if Stacey wants to keep her car at our house and you two hang out with us for the day." He was smooth.
"Uh, Rox you good with that?" I said to her in the front seat
I saw her glance towards Craig, he turned his head & smiled at her "yeah sure that would be good." She finally replied.
“Great then it's a date.” Steven said.
I turned to him, caught once again in his gaze. He was Medusa, turning me into stone, unable to tear my eyes away from him. He shifted in his seat and brought his other hand up, tucking a few pieces of my hair behind my ear. His thumb and index finger positioned so they run along my ear, then down towards my chin. He smiled and leaned forward placing a soft kiss on my lips, then leaned back again.
Just like that, the butterflies vanished and my mind began to relax. He had the power to create a fire within my body and bring calm all at the same time.
"s**t" Steven let out when Craig put the truck into park when we pulled into their driveway.
"Steven, she is seriously batshit crazy.” Craig said as he cut the engine.
Steven became stone like, his face scrunched up, causing his forehead to cress. "Wait, for me outside, don't leave. Just give me a couple of minutes” he said to me as he climbed out of the bronco.
"She’s crazy, just so you know. He likes you, a lot more than I’ve seen him like this with anyone. I know it seems fast..." Craig said as I climbed out of the truck. Watching Steven run into the house.
"I like him too" I blurred out.
Craig smiled "good."
A few minutes later the tall brunette came storming out of the house. Tears clearly running down her face, "You’re a son of a b***h Steven! Some new b***h comes along and you just throw me to the side?!"
"Right, Crystal, that's what happened. You cheated on me remember. I told you 3 weeks ago we were through. The other night, I kicked you out of Matt’s once I realized, I have no feelings for you anymore."
"Oh, so what; you’re gonna go be with that b***h?"
I'm usually not one to hold my tongue and I was trying really hard to not walk around the truck and punch her in the face. But with the thought that Steven’s parents might be in the house I decided that wouldn’t make the best first impression.
Instead, I rounded the front of the truck, her back to me as she continued talking s**t. Steven sucked in air the moment he looked me in the eyes. I had a fire burning inside of me, I wanted him more than ever before.
I walked passed her, turning my head to her at the same time, then looked right back at Steven. Approaching him, I grabbed onto his shirt and pulled him down to me. Kissing him hard.
"You stupid bitch." I heard her say. Pulling away, I turned and said "oh, hi sorry...didn't see you there, I’m Stacey" with a wicked grin. “We keep meeting this way.”
I could hear laughter coming from inside the house where his parents stood in the kitchen window and around the truck to where Roxanne and Craig were standing.
Steven laughed as he wrapped his arms around me.
The girl turned on her heel and stormed to her car. Ripped the door open and slammed it shut with just as much force...kicking up dust as she sped out of the driveway.
"That was..." Craig began to say
“Amazing” Steven whispered into my ear.
“Impressive" their father finished Craig’s sentence as he opened the screen door. "I’ve never seen anyone be able to shut her up. I appalled you"
I blushed, their father reminded me of Steven; tall, bright blue eyes hidden under his Patriot’s cap, he even had his laugh.
"Dad, this is Stacey and Roxanne" Steven introduced us as Roxanne walked up the stairs. "Girls this is our dad, Rick."
I put my hand out to him with a smile, and he gladly accepted it. "You have a great shake, strong for a woman your age." He stated.
"My father always told me that a strong handshake is the only way to give one, no one wants to shake hands with a noodle," I replied.
The comment made them all chuckle. "Come on inside Beth, their mother, is in the kitchen. I’m sure she'd love to meet the two of you" he said as he held open the door.
We walked into the kitchen, it smelt like Steven...woodsy. I smiled, growing to love that smell.
Their mother was whom Craig took after. Her hair was long and golden blonde, she had more of a loving nature about her.
Craig introduced us as we walked in.
I stayed for almost half an hour standing in the kitchen talking with everyone before announcing I had to go.
Craig offered to take Roxanne home, and she agreed.
Steven took my hand in his and walked me to my car.
Wrapping his arms around me, “Tomorrow, I have practice after school. But I’d like to see you.”
“Ok” I said as I slid my hands up his arms.
He bent down and kissed me. The fire igniting once more. He leaned against my car, my body pressing against his as his hands slid to my ass. We kissed and hugged each other, wanting him was becoming overwhelming.
I pulled away, “We really need to find a new place for this... other than each other's front lawns.”
He laughed and stood up, fixing himself in his pants. “Yeah we do. Tomorrow, 8pm be ready I’ll swing by your house.”
“Okay” I smiled up at him as I slid into my car and drove home.
Remembering that I needed to text John to cancel our date. I felt bad, but at the same time, how could I go on a date with him when so much has happened with Steven?
