"We are totally stopping somewhere on the way home next time" I said to her, as I went to her side.

"Ugh, I hate it when we don’t eat anything and then have to come back to this!" Roxanne whined "I could eat a cow right now I’m so hungry."

I laughed at her nodding, completely agreeing with her in my head.

Katie stepped back into the kitchen,"Tell Steven I’ll tell her. BYE!" she snapped her phone shut.

"Tell who?! What?!" I found myself saying the second the phone was shut.

She smiled at me "We're invited to the twin’s lacrosse game Monday after school, Steven specifically asked for you to come."

"Shut the f**k up." I said, I couldn’t keep the smile from appearing on my face. Nor could I stop the happy dance that followed.

"Stacey calm yourself down." Roxanne said with a laugh.

I shot her a look.

"I can’t help it!"

“Who’s this Steven guy?” John asked from the door frame of the kitchen. 

“Just Stacey’s new man” Roxanne said poking me in my ribs.

“He is not!” I blurted out, “he’s just a guy we met at the party” I said to John. 

He nodded, giving me a small smile and headed to the basement.

“Steven huh?” Seth said as he walked into the kitchen.

“Jesus, what do you have bionic hearing?” I snorted and he chuckled.

“No, I’m always paying attention.” He said with a wink as he and Chad then proceeded to the basement.

Katie opened the oven door to pull the pizza out. "The box says we need to wait 5 minutes before we cut it" she said to Roxanne, just as Roxanne was grabbing for the pizza cutter.

Roxanne let out a huff, she was clearly not in the mood to wait.

At that moment, I could care less about the pizza. I wanted to know what else Steven had to say.

"Let her eat, I need to know more" I grabbed Katie’s hand..."I’ll give you a butt.”

She smiled and said "deal.”

Roxanne proceeded with slicing the pizza up. "Pop the popcorn!" I called to her.

Katie & I went out to the side of the garage and I handed her a cigarette. Lighting them, we stood there for a few minutes. Once my nerves calmed down, "Wellllll??"

"Ha! I wondered how long you'd take" she took a drag "it was Matt who called, he said Craig and Steven have a lacrosse game Monday in Northampton. He asked me to go, then Steven grabbed the phone telling me to invite you as well."

"SERIOUSLY?!" I said, not hiding the excitement from my voice.

“Oh, and I gave him your number."

I nodded “Wait, what?! What about that girl from earlier?!"

"Who cares?! She replied.

Finishing the last of the cigarettes we headed back inside and grabbed a couple of slices of pizza.

We took seats on opposite sides of Roxanne on the couch. She had Criminal Minds playing. 

As soon as I sat down Roxanne handed me my phone. “You got a text from an unknown number.”

I grabbed the phone and flipped it open.

“Hey.” Displayed under the unknown number.

“Who's it from?” Roxanne asked.

“Must be Steven” Katie said, “I gave him her number.”

Roxanne's mouth dropped open,”Well are you going to reply?”

I took a bite of my pizza and typed “Hi” and hitting the send button.

My phone vibrated before I could put it back down.

“This is Steven. Matt got your number for me.” He texted.

“Lol Katie told me. I'm surprised you're able to text.”

“What? Why?”

“1 the amount you drank”

“Ha that was nothing!”

“2, I didn't think your girlfriend would like you talking to another girl.”

I clicked my phone off after a minute of silence. s**t I thought, why did I bring up the girlfriend.

I finished my pizza and stood up.

“Where you going?” Roxanne asked, Katie asleep on the other side of her.

“I need a smoke before I go to bed” I said to her walking into the kitchen.

Roxanne followed me into the kitchen, while Katie stretched out on the couch.

“Are you okay?” She asked as we stepped outside.

“Steven was texting me and I brought up his girlfriend. He hasn't responded.” I said while lighting the cigarette.

“Oh” she said while lighting hers. 

“Yeah. I suck.” We both laughed.

My phone vibrated a few minutes later, “Sorry, had to drive home. Craig is wasted…”

I was about to reply when another text came through.

“She's not my girlfriend.” Is all he wrote.“I'm single...do you have a boyfriend?” He asked.

I saw his text before clicking the phone off and walking inside with Roxanne.

Minutes later we were laying down in Katie's room. Roxanne sharing the bed with her. As I laid on the fold out bed. I plugged my phone into the wall next to my head before texting him back.

“No.” I replied to him “very much single.”

“Cool ;)” he typed back.

I felt my cheeks warm up as he made me blush.

“What are you doing tomorrow? Or should I say today?” read another text from him.

I looked at the time, realizing it was nearing 3am

“Nothing, you?”

“I have to work, at 6 but I should be done by 12 if you and Roxanne wanted to hang out again.”

“Yeah, we should be free.” I typed back.

“I'll text you when Craig and I are done to figure out where to meet up. I need to get to bed.” He commented.

“Sounds good. Goodnight” I replied to him.

“Goodnight” he typed back.

I set my alarm for 10am and clicked my phone off, curled up under the blankets and fell asleep.
