Chapter 8

(Still Kyle’s point of view)

        I responded to the prisoner, “Maybe one of you is important to them. Or maybe you all are important to them.” He replied shaking his head, “But alpha I don’t understand none of us are important at all and this goes against everything they teach.”

The other prisoners all looked equally as shocked that their leader would risk not only his life but the life of his mate as well. Not to mention the countless lives that were lost in the end.

James and I just observed all that the prisoners were doing and saying as well as their facial expressions. After ten minutes I received a mind-link from my mom saying, “Kyle, son you may be the alpha now but that doesn’t mean you can get out of telling me that your mate the future luna is coming for dinner tomorrow.”

I replied to her while keeping a straight face, “Mom I was coming there to tell you after I finished interrogating the prisoners.” She responded, “Are you asking about tonight’s attack? And what kind of food does daphne like?”

“Yes mom I am, and as for daphne, she loves Italian food and lots of sweets. From what I know she loves cake specifically chocolate ice cream cake. But we haven’t really talked about it much.”

She just sighed and said, “Well I’ll just have to make two lasagna’s and a chocolate cake.” I told her, “Whatever you think is right mom she is also bringing a few protection officers.”

She said, “Ok honey will you at least tell me how many people to expect.” I responded, “I’d say about fifteen to twenty people, but the protection officers can eat with the rest of the pack.”

She replied, “Alright honey get back to your interrogation I will talk to you when you get home.” I said, “See you later mom, and don’t go too far overboard.” She told me, “I will go as overboard as I want so I can impress my beautiful future daughter-in-law.”

I went back to the interrogation as if nothing had happened. I asked, “What are your names and ranks in the coven?” The guy that had said he was in charge stood up and said, “My name is David and I am just an expendable common vampire. And this is my best friend Garrett, and he like me is an expendable common vampire.”

Of the three others two of them, you could just tell that they are twins. And the last one looks so much like the vamp named David that you could tell they were brothers. They took turns telling me and James their names.

The one that looks like David says that he is David’s older brother and his name is Max. The twins say that their names are Henry and Jackson. I then ask, “What is the name of your leader and his mate?”

The vampire David said, “Our leader’s name is Zane and his mate’s name is Victoria.” After he said that he got a huge elbow to the ribs from his brother max. They seemed nice and cooperative to me at least.

Maybe daphne has a friend that’s good at telling whether or not someone is telling the truth. I’ll ask her tomorrow as she is sound asleep by now. Just then James mind-links me saying, “Alpha maybe the luna knows someone that can tell when people are telling the truth or not.”

I told him, “She is sleeping right now so I’ll ask her tomorrow.” He replied, “Okay alpha why don’t you go home and get some rest. You’ve had a busy day and I’m sure the other alphas are going to want more of your time tomorrow.”

I responded, “Okay beta I think I will you finish up here and meet me in my office in an hour.” While out loud all I said was, “Beta I’m leaving our guests in your hands.”

He responded, “Yes Alpha I’ll make sure they are in tip-top shape for tomorrow.” I then walk out the door and strip behind a tree because you never know who is watching. Before running home when I get there I shift and pull on the same clothes that I had on for the interrogation.

I walk in and I am immediately bombarded with questions from my mom and sister. “So what is daphne’s favorite color?” my sister asked. While my mom asked, “So when is she moving in?”

I responded, “Her favorite color well she actually has two. And they are red and sky blue like the beautiful dress she wore tonight. Mother as to your question we have yet to talk about that.” Just then dad walks in and inquires, “So did you get anything new out of the prisoners?”

I told him, “Yeah dad we learned that the couple that escaped is their leader and his mate. Their names are Zane and Victoria.” “That’s great son now we can maybe figure out the reasoning behind all this,” Dad replied.

Mom said, “Son why have you and your mate not talked about her moving in?” I replied, “Mom she just agreed to meet you guys and to officially meet the pack as their future luna. Right now I’m just following her lead on things.”

She looked slightly shocked but recovered quickly. Meanwhile, cassie was sniffing around like she smelled her favorite dessert. I asked her, “Cass is there something that you smell but I can’t?”

 Her reply was, “You just smell nicer than usual I guess it has to do with my future sister.” “Hardy har har sister I haven’t been around daph in over an hour. I have been running and interrogating prisoners at the dungeons with James.”

She looked flabbergasted before turning and running up to her room. I laughed and said to my mom, “I think she is on the verge of finding her mate.”

My mom replied, “I can’t wait until she finds her mate.” Dad agreed with her and said, “I want to be able to walk her down the aisle before she turns twenty-two.”

 My response was, “James is already a big part of our family. Given that he is one of my best friends.” We all laughed at that and then I said, “I’m going to go take a shower and then I’m going to be meeting James in my office.”

I then walked to my bathroom and started the shower. Before walking to my closet to get my clothes out. I finished my shower then went straight to my office to meet James.

When I got to my office James was already sitting on the couch. “Hey bro did you get any more information from those vamps?” I asked. He replied, “No bro they all just seemed puzzled.”

 I responded, “Bro cassie was sniffing the air all around me just after I got home. Because I smelled like you due to the fact that I borrowed your clothes.”

 He inquired, “Do you think that she is starting to realize that I am her mate?” I told him, “I honestly think that she is, but she is probably in denial about it. Not really wanting to admit it even to herself.” He looked lost in thought for a few minutes.

“The main reason I wanted to talk to you bro is that daphne thinks her and alexia’s friend Regina might be the mate to one of our pack mates. And I think we need to have a meeting of all the unmated male wolves tomorrow while the girls are here.” I informed him. “Sure thing alpha I’ll get on that first thing in the morning.” He replied.

We talked for about thirty minutes more before going to bed for the night. When my head hit the pillow my mind instantly brought up the image of my luna half-naked. As I went to sleep my mind was elaborating on those images.

In the morning I woke up with morning wood something I hadn’t experienced since tenth grade. So I immediately went and took a very cold shower. After my shower, I chose my outfit a long-sleeved black V-necked t-shirt and black jeans.

Then I proceeded to the kitchen for my breakfast which consists of two eggs over medium, ham, and toast as well as my morning coffee. I wonder is the most beautiful women in the world even awake yet.
