Chapter 5

    (Daphne’s Point of view)

    I woke up to Alexia snoring in my ear. “Wake up Alexia it’s time to get ready to go shopping,” I said in her ear. She sat up so fast she hit me in the mouth. “Huh Daph what is going on? Shopping oh yeah we have to get our dresses for tonight. Sorry did I hurt you? Well, you shouldn’t have been so close to my ear.” We both jumped out of bed and ran to our bathrooms.

    After a quick shower, I got dressed before meeting her in the kitchen. “Hey girl what do you want to eat for breakfast?” she asked. “How about Franny’s Doughnuts or go to Granny Mae’s Bakeshop?” I said. “Franny’s please you spend too much time at Granny Mae’s as it is.” She replied. We laughed and walked out of the house to my 1967 Pontiac GTO custom hardtop in blueberry with a black interior.

     “So after breakfast what is the next stop?” I asked. She responded, “Valerie’s secret, then Forever thirty-one, is there any store at the mall that you want to go to?” “How about Wendy’s dress boutique?” I asked her. “Sure then lunch and shoe shopping.” She answered. “But what store do we go to for shoe shopping?” I inquired. She responded, “SKW or Louis Terriel please.” By the time we had decided on that, we had arrived at Franny’s Doughnuts. “What do you want from the menu?” I asked. “The chocolate glazed with chocolate icing and chocolate sprinkles what about you?” she replied.

     “I need a French vanilla crème doughnut and a large hot chocolate,” I informed her. “A large hot chocolate sounds great I’ll take one too,” Alexia told me. We had arrived at the drive-thru order speaker. “Can I take your order?” the cashier asked.“Can I get two large hot Chocolates, a French vanilla crème, and a Chocolate glazed with chocolate icing and chocolate sprinkles please?” I said. 

    “Sure is that all or would you like something more?” she asked. I replied, “That’s all ma’am thank you.” “That will be seven dollars and fifty cents please pull up to the second window.” She told me. I drove to the window and paid for our food. “Here Alexia take these drinks please while I get the food.” I collected our food and drove off towards the mall.

     We ate our food and drank our drinks as we drove. When we finally got to the mall and it took about thirty minutes to find a parking space. Before we could even walk into the mall and go to our first store. The mall was crowded almost like it was Christmas. When it was only mid-April to be specific it was the sixteenth of April. She instantly pulled me towards Valerie’s Secret to get new lingerie. Then we went to Forever thirty-one for new jewelry and makeup. I then dragged her to the nearest bookstore.

     “Alexia I just remembered that book that we have been waiting for, for the last seven months comes out today,” I told her. She answered, “Yeah I know but I already pre-ordered mine two months ago.” I returned, “Well I didn’t because I spent the whole time either working or practicing my magic and hand-to-hand combat. So we are going in there to get me my copy before we go find our dresses.”

    She replied, “That is fine daph it is only nine-thirty in the morning.” I ran into the bookstore and straight to where the book I wanted was being kept. Even with Alexia chasing after me screaming, “Daph slow down, come on Daphne Marie Medicinni you slow down this instant!” Just then my phone beeped with a text. It was from kyle saying, “Hey sexy lady, what are you doing right now?” I laughed at that and replied, “Hey sexy I’m shopping with alexia right now, what are you doing?”

     He responded, “Pick out something to enhance your s*x appeal but not too much. Because I don’t want to have to kill someone. As for me, I’m in a boring-ass meeting with the alpha council.” I had just left the bookstore when I read that message. I laughed and showed the message to Alexia and she thought it was funny too. I told him, “Poor baby deal with it and I’ll make it up to you later.” We walked to Wendy’s dress boutique and I immediately saw the dress I wanted.

    It took another fifteen minutes for alexia to find her dress. We then had to decide where we were going for lunch. After about a ten minute debate we decided on going to Franks. I know we must sound like we are extremely fat given all the junk food we eat. But we work out every day for about two hours a day. We then went and got our shoes, makeup, and jewelry. Then we headed back to the car.

     As we get to the car I notice that there is a note on the windshield. I pick it up with my magic and bring it up so I can see what it says. It says, “Tell your Alpha that we are coming for his pack. Signed the Red Moon Coven.” I looked at alexia and said, “We have to talk to the boys now.” I then called kyle on the phone and asked, “Do you know who the Red moon coven is?” He returned, “How did you hear that name?” "I’m at the mall with alexia and when we got back to the car. There was a note on the windshield, and it was from the Red moon coven.”

    He asked, “Did you touch the note at all?” I answered him, “Of course not I used magic to make it hover in front of me.” He replied, “Well don’t touch it we will be there in ten minutes and call your dad.” My response was, “Yeah yeah see you then, and alexia is already on the phone with her dad.” “Ok see you in a few minutes bye,” he replied.“Daph our dads and protection teams are closing in on our location. They will be here in about five minutes.” Alexia told me. I informed her, “Kyle and the boys will be here around the same time.”

    (Kyle’s point of view)

    I was in a meeting with my dad and the werewolf council when my Luna called me asking if I knew of the red moon coven. I asked her how she heard that name. And she told me that while she and alexia were shopping for their outfits for our date tonight. They returned to the car and found a note on the windshield. I asked if they had touched the note and my luna replied of course not.

     That she had used magic to make the note hover where she could read it. I told her we were on our way. So don’t touch the note and for her to call her dad so he would know about it. She replied to me that she would see me when I got there and that alexia was already talking to her dad. After I got off the phone with her I told everyone that I had to go because my mate was in danger. 

    Then I took off running through the house to the garage. It was too dangerous to go in wolf form even if it would be faster. We all hopped into the biggest van in the garage and took off towards the mall.  We sped along the highway so we would reach them in about five minutes. The closer we got the antsier my wolf Dominic got. The antsier he got the faster I drove so we would be with our mate sooner.

    As we pulled in I saw her surrounded by her dad, uncle, Xander, and two protection teams. The first thing I said when I got out of the car was, “Did anyone physically touch the note? Hey babe how are you feeling?” “Hi babe I’m fine, and no one physically touched the note,” Daphne told me. I sniffed the air and could smell her fear as well as her fury. “Ok let’s see this note, and babe please come stand by me,” I said. She blushed before telling her dad that she would be fine. And walking over to me she then proceeded to rub my arm. As we walked to where her dad had the note suspended by magic.

    He looked a bit put out that she came to me instead of staying next to him. But he just kept quiet and showed me the note. Which after I gave it a sniff I gave an involuntary growl. Then I told my dad, “Those stupid leeches are going to pay. For threatening my pack and my mate.” He said in response, “Calm down son we will make them pay but only those that are responsible for this.”

    I mind-linked James and said, “Are the council members still there?” He replied, “Yes alpha your mom has been feeding them lots of cookies. And trying to keep them from leaving so you can talk to them when you get home.” “James, please inform my mom that my dad will talk with them when we get back as I have a date with my mate,” I responded.

    “Ok Alpha I’ll tell her, and should I have the omega’s clean your room?” he asked. “No, I’ll clean my room tonight after I’m done with my date,” I answered him. While out loud I said, “Trackers come here to scent this note and track the scent around here. If you find anything let me know immediately and be careful of humans.” They all said, “Yes alpha right away alpha.”

    They then all came up and sniffed the note before bowing and saying, “We will keep you informed Alpha and Luna.” They then ran off towards the west end of the mall. After they ran off I said to daphne’s dad, “Sir she is in the best of hands as for our date tonight the restaurant that we are going to is in the very heart of my territory. So we will be surrounded by not only my pack members and best warriors. But you are welcome to send a protection team or two if it makes you feel better.”

    He replied, “I will be sending two protection teams. As well as sending some tracking witches to help track down these vampires. That feel they can threaten my daughter and her mate as well as my allies.” “Your help is most welcome. And if it would make you feel better you are welcome to call or text me. Any time you or your beautiful wife get worried about our girl.” Was my response. He smiled at me and said, “My wife is sure to take you upon it. And I feel better knowing that she won’t be as worried.” We all laughed at that and then I turned to daphne and said, “So can’t wait to see you in your dress and spend a lot of time talking with you.” She blushed and said, “Too bad but you’ll just have to wait.” 

    I smirked at her before replying, “Feel free to tease all you want we will see how you feel tonight mate.” This whole time Ben has been holding Alexia while she cried out of pure fear. I asked Daphne, “She is not a fighter is she?” My mate replied, “No she is more of a healer she uses a lot of white magic.” I told my mate, “I can’t wait until we can mind-link so we can discuss things without anyone overhearing.” She looked shocked that I said that. But then she replied, “What exactly would we be discussing?” I just smiled and said, “Many many things sweetness.”

     “Well maybe you could tell me some of those things later at dinner." she returned. I laughed and said, “Ben come over here with us and bring your mate so her cousin can comfort her.” He looked at me before nodding his head and whispering something in her ear. But due to my supernatural hearing, I was able to make out what he said. He told her that he was taking her over to daphne so they could talk. They then proceeded to walk over to us and when they got near us Alexia asked, “Daph are we really safe?” My Luna said, “Of course we are safe Lexia our family and mates would never let anything happen to us.”

    Ben and I smiled at that before agreeing loudly with her. Alexia smiled, and said, “Ok I believe you. Now when can daph and I go home so we can get even more beautiful for you two.” I laughed and told her, “You two can go in about twenty minutes.” Her dad said to her, “You girls can go home in about twenty minutes. But for now, can you girls please help us figure out if the one that left the note had followed you. Or was just waiting for you to come to the mall and park then watched you leave before putting that note on your windshield.”  

    She replied, “I didn’t see anyone following us or just standing around when we got here. Did you daph?” My mate returned, “No I didn’t see anyone, but the mall was pretty packed. And we were rushing around most of the day.” My mate's dad looks at her and asked, “Where all did you go today? Just so we can check the security footage.” Daphne looked at him like he had two heads, “Really dad, we started with breakfast at Franny’s doughnuts, then when we got here we parked. And the first place we went to Valerie's secret. Then I dragged alexia to the bookstore, before going to Wendy’s dress boutique. We spent about an hour eating lunch before going to SKW for shoes and then to the pharmacy for makeup and Louis Terriel’s for jewelry.”  

    He looked shocked at how long her explanation took before commenting, “That explanation was very long-winded. But at least it was precise.” My mate answered, “At least I didn’t extrapolate on everything we talked about.”  Alexia looked at her uncle before telling him, “Uncle you honestly don’t want her to go over everything we talked about today because we would be standing here for a week.” I took control of the situation and said, “Ladies if you would like to head home you should feel free to leave when you want.” My mate laughed and hugged me before kissing my cheek and saying, “We can wait another fifteen minutes before we have to leave.”  She really didn't look happy to be stuck standing in the mall parking lot instead of on her way home.
