Chapter FiveMax’s heart was racing as he drove back to the surgery. The tremor in Alex’s voice had been palpable. His friend was scared. Did this mean the whole building was up in flames? Did it mean…?

Even so, Max could feel his hands getting sweaty on the steering wheel. This was his business, his and Alex’s. They had built it up between them with a loan from the bank, and they had turned it into a successful practice. The two of them had worked hard to get it to where it was. They were proud of it. Now there was a chance that it was all gone. Could they build it back up again?
