“Ughhhh...” the groan comes from a place of misery within me. Apparently, you can still be hungover as a Vampire. Who would have thought? Feeling stiff like when I was in the box, my eyes don’t want to open, but I force them. I feel Damiens arms wrapped around me, I look down and see myself changed out of my beautiful dress into a pair of pajamas. My memory fuzzy of how we got home. I try to move but I’m pinned under the weight of his arms. Giving me the opportune time to admire him as I clearly remember the internal fireworks he set off inside me last night at the club. Damien is quite good looking, I’ve noticed before, of course. But he’s more attractive to me than ever. It’s amazing what an orgasm can do. He’s got dark brown eyes, they are a little thin, almond shaped. Almost like a natural evil, seductive look. His lips are pouty for a male, the kind you’d love to press yours against. He’s olive skinned, not dark but not pale. His complexion is perfect, I envy his beautiful color. There’s a little scar in one of his eyebrows, must have been from an injury when he was a human but it gives him character. His teeth are perfect, wrapped around deadly K-9 molars. When he smiles, the room seems to illuminate with beautiful danger. Standing about 6ft 7”, his muscular body towers over me. Although I hate to admit I secretly love looking up at him. His arm muscles are huge, bigger than my head, huge. They match perfectly with his chiseled abdomen and chest. He’s quite a specimen, difficult to resist. Especially now that I know what he’s capable of making me feel. Finally I manage to wiggle my way out of his grip without disturbing him. The shower was calling me and I answered. Washing away all the aches from overindulging in last nights Vipers. Feeling fresh as the soap and water cleanses me. Damien says tonight, we’re to have some sort of important errand to run. He didn’t go into detail but even the thought of going out again has me excited. Walking back into our tomb, towel drying my hair I see Damien sitting up on the edge of the bed.  “Get ready, business casual.” Giving me a short answer. He must be groggy from last night, too. But he seems serious, and I get an anxious feeling. Looking in my closet, thinking ‘Business casual’, browsing through the mass amounts of clothing. From my human era, I got pretty good at dressing for job interviews since it was hard for me to keep a job. Too outspoken, I guess. This should be an easy task for me. I carefully select a black pair of dress pants, paired with a white button up shirt and a black blazer. My long, dark hair is pulled in a ponytail, letting small pieces gram my face. My outfit is pulled together with a pair of beautiful pumps. I feel like I could kill any job interview thrown my way! Proudly presenting myself to Damien, he grins, making me melt inside.  “You look beautiful.” He says softly, reaching for my hand.  “Let’s go, we have a long ride ahead of us.” We make our way out of the tomb, say our goodbyes to Leah and Brian and head out. In the car, we’ve been driving for hours, laughing, joking and flirting along the way. He tickles me when I’m not paying attention. We hold hands as he drives. His hand on my thigh trying to sneak up to touch me, shooing him away. Talking about everything, especially last night.  “How was your first Vampire gathering? Did you enjoy yourself?” He knows exactly how to make me blush. “I loved it! It was the best party I’ve ever been to! Even if we did spend most of it in the corner.” Naughty giggles pass between us as we travel dark, empty roads. It’s like we’re in the mountains. Finally, we reach what appears to be an old, abandoned farm. Damien parks and shuts the car off. He sight heavily, looking at me he changes his posture, tensing and speaks sternly, “Lamia, I command you to behave and not feed on anyone inside. Vampires that are within are expecting you to hold yourself with respect and poise. Elegance and power, as they go hand in hand. Present yourself as a force, you’ll feel it coming from me, use that. We have authority within these walls and the world you’ve been shielded from so far. Last night was just your first glimpse of the Vampire world. This is a very important step for the two of us. Prepare yourself, my beautiful Mia.”  Anxiety, butterflies and tingly feelings erupt in my chest. If I was able to sweat, I’d probably be a sweaty mess! We leave the car and enter the abandoned farmhouse. Damien and I arm in arm as we walk. I have to let express myself, I’m starting to freak out. “Damien, I’m so nervous!” “Don’t be nervous, my Mia. You’ll do wonderful. Nothing too serious and you aren’t being tested or anything, you’ll do fine.” Damien kisses my forehead and gives me a comforting hug, giving me the confidence to move forward. But we’re just standing in the middle of the shell of a building. I feel vibrations bending feet, the ground starts to rumble with mechanics working and ticking. We begins to lower like an elevator, taking us down below the surface where we stood. We’re dropped off in a dirt tunnel, which is illuminated by lanterns hung by railroad spikes from the top. It looks like an old time coal mine. Damien gently interlocks his fingers with mine and begins to leads the way. Walking hand in hand, my eyes bouncing around my surroundings.  Lanterns and dirt are the only things to look at besides Damien. I notice small red lights between the lanterns, which look to be small security cameras. We walk for what feels like forever. Finally, we reach a set of luxurious, golden double doors. Victorian looking, almost and so out of place in the dirt tunnel. Like part of a lost civilization. As we approach, the doors open automatically and I’m stunned by the magnificent sight of colosseum style seating before us. The rows littered with Vampires and human companions. The room busy with talking and laughter. When we enter, the business quiets down, like we’re the center of attention. Damien and I walk towards the middle of the arena where a counsel of men and women sit at a long table, looking as if they were waiting for us to arrive.  “Asura! It’s so lovely to see you!” Damien greets a young looking handsome man, wrapping his arms around him in a loving embrace. The man Damien calls Asura speaks and his voice towards him is sweet and creamy like honey. “I’ve been missing you too, my son. It’s been slightly lonesome without you recently. I’ve been trying to keep myself busy, getting things ready for your induction. I’m so proud to finally pass the position to you.” He gleams with pride like a happy father. But there is no way that’s Damien’s dad! Damien leans towards me and whispers “Asura is my maker.” realizing the importance of this man. Asura looks at me and reaches his hand out, which I gladly accept his invitation. His skin is soft against mine, he spins me around to get a good look at me, then pulls me into a warm, loving embrace. He hugs me like he’s known and missed me for ages. His honey voice whispers “You’re as beautiful as Damien described. He loved you from the moment he first laid eyes on you. I can’t wait to talk with you more later.”  I’m relieved he approves of my looks, I’ve always been slightly self conscious because of my weight. And he said Damien fell in love with me at first sight. He’s talked about me with his man. Damien sure knows every maneuver of flattery there is. Ever since I’ve become a Vampire, everyone has truly made me feel like one of the sexiest women on the planet. Maybe I’ll need to re-evaluate myself to see what everyone is fussing about. After Asura releases me from the hug, which I kind of wished was longer, I’m rushed and sat down by a couple of human servants. I take my place right next to Damien, he places his hand on my thigh, which shatters through my nervousness. Asura takes a stand and begins to address the crowd with his honey voice tinged with a tone of seriousness :   “We are gathered here this evening for the welcoming of our newest Vampires. As most of you are aware, it is illegal to make a vampire without registering the new member with the Vampires Association. We’ll also be addressing some other important business tonight as well. Before we get to that, I kindly ask all new makers and Vampires, please make your way to the arena, making a single file line towards the main stage for registration.”  The sound of movement echoes through the silent colosseum. About a hundred men and women walk in pairs towards the main stage. Some couples look happy and in love. Some look angry with each other, some look completely miserable and others look like they’ve been best friend since day one. Damien grabs my hand and stands up with me. We’re assisted first, before any of the others. A woman sitting at the end of the table making notes glances up at me, peering over the rims of her glasses. Quickly, she stands and snaps my picture before I even had time to get ready. She asks for my name, make date and my makers name, which she records in her paper notes with one hand and types it into her laptop with the other, simultaneously. Im impressed at her skills and she’s working at record speed. She places a blank card in her printer and when done, I’m handed something similar to a government issued ID. The card reads ‘Vampires Association card’. Damien says they call them V-cards for short. I’m handed some other miscellaneous documents, one by one as she prints them out. The administrative assistant looks up after working at lightning speed and says “Welcome! I hope you have a wonderful afterlife.” She was kind of cheerful towards me, but unpleasant with most everyone else. She clicks pictures, creating mass amounts of V-cards, and finished documenting all of the newest members of the association within what felt like minutes. After she’s finished, everyone returns to their seats, including Damien and I. The new registered names are announced over the intercom system, starting with me.  After all of the new Vampire names are read, Asura stands, clearing his throat, preparing to speak. He barely gets a word out before he is interrupted by the loud crashing of doors flying open. A swarm of vampires running in at the speed of light. Attacking and fighting unsuspecting vampires sitting in attendance. I watch in terror, fear strikes my soul as panic ensues. Blood is everywhere in an instant, I watched as an attacker ripped the head off one of the new vampires. Piercing screams and chaos engulfs the room that was so quiet and calm only moments ago. My ear drums feel like they could shatter with the piercing sound of a victim of the c*****e as she screams “ROUGES!” The sounds of hissing, screaming, bodies being torn apart by the rouge invasion surround me. Sitting in awe at the sight, my jaw hanging open in disbelief. Out of the corner of my eye, I see a rogue storming towards me, running fast, eyes wide, blood dripping from his fangs and fingers. Damien steps in front of the rogue and rips his head off with ease and in an instant, I’m scooped up in his arms. Within the flash, I’m  rushed out of there, heading toward a safe room where we meet Asura and a few of the elders on the committee.  Damien erupts with anger, pacing and screaming “How the f**k did ROUGES find this place? How were they able to get inside with no warning or security alarms?! Who the hell is in charge of security?! We spent millions of dollars to arrange and secure this f*****g place and the first meeting held here, we’re attacked?! Mia was almost f*****g killed! Where the f**k is the army of darkness?! What the hell is everyone doing! I want f*****g answers, NOW!” Damien rants in disgust, profanity almost every other word. Asura calmly interjects, “Damien, Arius is in charge of the security and the Army of Darkness and has been dispatched. They’ll be here momentarily.” His words are so smooth, I wish I had just an ounce of his control. Asura watches the security monitors, “Lamia, please, join me. Prepare to watch the greatest army ever to exist take out these rogues with ease.” My eyes jump to Damien with a permissive glance. He waves his hand, allowing me to sit next to Asura to observe the army attack. Just as I sit next to him, the army is moving in. They are dressed head to toe in black body armor and race in the colosseum, row by row of soldiers, all in sync with each other. Every footstep in unison with the soldier next to them. The sounds of hurried marching echoes through the coliseum. The soldiers, baring large weapons, ferociously firing at the rogues. Asura explains to me the bullets they are firing are made of solid gold and have liquid nitrogen in the core. Once the bullet pierces the skin and explodes, the Liquid nitrogen freezes the body almost instantly from the inside out. The army men are trained to hit the same target with more than one bullet, that way once frozen by the nitrogen and shot with the second bullet, the body of ice shatters. Spreading millions of pieces of vampire all over the place. Asura gushes the ingenious make up of his tactics, sounding so proud. They also specialize in hand to hand combat, he claims they were trained to be deadly either with or without weapons. The way they move is amazing, crouching down, firing, never missing their mark. Ducking and dodging advances by the rogues, so fast and accurate. I watch as countless rogues are shattered by nitrogen, exploding like fireworks, taken out by the army. Within minutes, every rogue the has infiltrated the arena is either dead or retreated. We had some deaths, yes, but thanks to the swift actions of our army, most of our members were spared and suffered mild injuries. A feeding session could heal them right up. As the room calms down, Damien, Asura, the elders and I make our way back the the arena, once again taking our assigned seats. Asura stands, “Let the meeting proceed.” Damien glares at him with disapproval. Asura sees this and quickly explains “Excuse me children, I need to consult with one of the elders before we continue.” Asura sits down next to Damien but before he can start, Damien let’s loose.  “How can you be so apathetic? The members must be shaken by the attack. If I was in attendance, I’d be apprehensive continuing the meeting tonight. Some of them need to mourn the deaths of their partners. They need to feed, to heal from getting their asses kicked! I don’t think it’s fair to them to make them sit through a lecture after they were just terrorized. Let’s finish for tonight, add more security measures and hold the meeting tomorrow.”  Asura seems surprised by how passionately Damien is about this, and feeling put in his place by his own prodigy. He looks on to him, again showing how proud he is of Damien.  “As you wish, my son. I just figured you’d want to complete the process tonight. So it will be. Let’s go conclude the meeting.” Asura addresses the attendees : “The council has brought it to my attention that most of you must have some safety. We understand that now may not be the best time to hold the remainder of our meeting. Our souls ache for all of you who may have lost someone in tonight’s attack. We acknowledge the fact that this should have never happened and rest assured, we will get to the bottom of this safety issue. Please, join us again tomorrow night for the continuance of the meeting. We’ll be sure to find any security flaws to avoid this from happening again and we’ll feast afterwards. Please, be our guests at the Hotel Vampirio, each of you will be given a complimentary room and meal. The shuttles will be waiting for you momentarily outside. Thank you for your understanding and patience, any additional concerns, please bring to the attention of the counsel. You are all dismissed.”  Damien takes my hand, holding me close to him as we walk. He whispers softly in my ear, “I thought I might lose you tonight. I’m so glad you’re safe.” Finishing by planting a kiss on my head. I look up to him and smile, “Thank you for saving me.” He smiles back, my insides flutter with his smiles. We walk towards our own vehicle, we refused the shuttle. Damien and I didn’t want to be sitting next to bleeding Vampires the whole way to the hotel. However, we are staying the night at Hotel Vampirio as Asura insisted. We’d never make it back home before sunrise anyway. As we drive, Damien holds my hand. I feel like my hand has been in his all night, which isn’t something that I mind. After a short distance, we arrive at a beautiful hotel named ‘Eternal Elegance’. It seems to be a fully functional human hotel. Damien explains that when the elevator is taken down, past the basement level, there is an abundance of vacant tombs. Damien says there are Vampire hotels everywhere, no matter where I go, I can always find one. The hotel concierges are very welcoming of the vampires and very accommodating. The hotel staff is busily working around the last minute request but is more than willing to take on the challenge. Especially because they know vampires always tip handsomely and the association is taking care of the rest of the expenses. Damien and I are escorted by a wonderful concierge. He goes by the name of ‘Marco’ and directs us to the Elder suites. Marco tells us Asura has the Primus suite down the hall. As we arrive to our assigned room, Asura is waiting for us, looking like he’s got a lot on his mind. Marco takes his leave when he sees Asura, he obviously knows how things work around here. Asura watches us nearing, changing his face goes back to the happier man I met earlier with the honey sweet voice. Without even a greeting, Asura spills his thoughts. “Damien, I may not have told you this very often during our time together but I am very, very proud of you.” he places a hand on Damien’s shoulder, gleaming at him lovingly. “You’re going to be a great and powerful Primus and I am proud to step down and allow such a powerful man be my new leader. They way you took control and cared about your members tonight.. I was truly impressed and anticipate being under the command of such a caring but fearless Vampire. You never cease to amaze me, my son.” The smile he gives emits a warm loving glow. Asura reaches for my hand, he bows and kisses the top gently before turning and walking back towards his Primus suite. I look towards Damien, expecting answers but he avoids my questioning eyes.  “I’m exhausted and starving. Can I explain over dinner?” It’s as if he read my mind. My stomach growls loudly as he giggles. “I take that as a yes!”
