Lightning bolts flashed in the dark skies in an ear-splitting boom. Mel sprang up from the covers and watched the window. They were on the highest floor in the hotel. The sharp bolts of lightning seem to split the sky into two. She grabbed the bed sheets closer to her body. A thunder exploded sending her flying out of bed. She crawled on the floor as the lightning bolts seem to target her and she crawled further away from the windows. She sat up with her knees drawn closer to her chest in front of the sofa that Leo was sleeping on. Her hands ached to touch and wake him up. She wanted to feel his arms around her, telling her it was okay. Tears stung at Mel's eyes as another roar came from outside the window. She bowed her head on her arms which were hugging her knees.
