Zee. I closed my bedroom door with a soft click and leaned against it, letting out a shaky breath. The silence in the room was deafening after the electricity of having Denver here. My chest ached in that weird, hollow way like I’d lost something I never really had. He was gone. He’d stepped into my room, looked at me with those maddening eyes, touched my face like I was fragile glass—and then left without kissing me. Again. The second time.
