ZEE I wasn’t asleep. I’d been lying in bed for what felt like hours, staring at the ceiling while my thoughts tangled themselves into knots. The room was quiet—but not in a peaceful way. It was that eerie kind of silence that made you feel like something was watching. So when I heard our front door creaked open, I sat up straight. Voices floated in—familiar, impossible ones.
