Saying goodbye.

After I left Alex and Jackson in the kitchen, I didn’t see either of them for the rest of the night and honestly, I didn’t want to. I drank for a little and watched Axeton practically throw girls off of him so he could keep an eye on me. Is he supposed be some knight in shining armor? Cause if so it’s a little weird, I mean he is my brother after all. I walked around for a little just people watching and then ended up leaving after two guys got into a fight. It took 5 people to break it up but I figured it would be best to leave accordingly. “Lorelei wait up!” Axeton yelled coming out of the house. “Oh, what’s up?” I smiled. “Let me drive you home. Please” He answered “Axe I'm fine” I smiled “Lorelei please” He asked sympathetically. “Fine” I sighed and got in the car. We sat in silence for a while with the radio just playing lowly in the background, like something out of the movies when you get into a lover's fight. When the car pulled up to the house the lights were on which was a little weird since it was 2 in the morning. Axeton looked at me confused as he parked the car. “Why are the lights on?” He asked “How should I know?” I answered sarcastically. “I don’t like this lets just leave” Axeton proclaimed. “Axeton, I don’t think we have a choice but to go inside” I pointed behind us to a car that pulled in right after we did with its lights off. “What the f**k?” He asked when he got out but no answer from the car. “Axeton, let’s just got inside.” I got out and walked towards the door. “Lorelei, before we got in there, I just wanted to say I'm sorry, for everything. For all those years I thought you could handle yourself, for shutting you out, for ignoring your calls for help” He grabbed my arm and pulled me close. “Axeton, don’t worry about it. It’s not like we are going to die” I laughed and opened the door making my way into the dining room, Axeton following close behind. “Oh, Lorelei nice of you to join us” A gray haired man said. “I was wrong” I chuckled to Axeton. “Wrong about what dear?” The man asked. “Nothing, not important. Who are you?” I asked looking over to my mother and father who had been tied up. “My name is John Kinsey Lorelei” He smiled and put his hand out, I took it. “Lorelei, I would like to make a proposition.” He smiled and pointed to the chair across from him. I sat down, Axeton following close beside me. “Is this your bodyguard?” He asked “My brother” I smiled. “Will he respect a choice you make?” He asked again. “Yes, he will respect my choices and keep his mouth shut otherwise” I said glaring at Axeton, I wasn’t sure what was going on here but I knew it wasn’t good. I don’t know much but John Kinsey probably has something to do with the mafia, watching movies has really paid off. “Okay then, Lorelei. I would like to propose a marriage.” He smiled. “For me?” I asked even knowing the answer. “Yes, with my son” He glared at Axeton. “What’s in it for me?” I asked curiously. “You may still see your family; you may still attend college; the only difference is you will live in New York and go to college there.” He continued. “New York is where I wanted to go anyways so that isn’t a big difference.” I stated. “You’ve got to be kidding me!” Axeton shouted. “Sit down!” I demanded and he complied. “I have a counter offer.” I intended. “Okay” he said lowly. “You give me 24 hours to get my things in order, my things properly packed and I will be allowed to say goodbye to my friends and family properly. I will meet you at any location you decided, no fight, no running away or trying to escape. I’ve seen enough movies; the mafia can find you anywhere so there really wouldn’t be a point.” I smiled. “24 hours?” he asked. “24 hours.” I smiled. “Okay, then it’s a deal.” He smiled. “Thank you” I smiled. “I look forwarding to seeing you again Lorelei, and Daryl, what a fine, respectable woman you have put together.” He smiled as he walked out the door with his men behind him. I left out the air I was holding as he walked out and closed the door behind him. “Axeton, untie our parents” I sighed as I slopped down in my chair. “Lorelei what are you thinking?” My father yelled. “Hmm, I don’t know. Maybe that I didn’t want you to get shot tonight!” I scoffed. “How silly of me.” I continued. “Lorelei, you know nothing about this man!” My father continued. “I know he is Don of the New York Mafia; I know that he has 3 kids and is divorced. I know his oldest just turned 19 three months ago. I know if I would have kicked and screamed, they would have taken me anyways and I could’ve been hurt, or worse you guys would have gotten killed.” I explained. “How do you know all of this?” My mother asked. “Because I'm not stupid. I’m 18, If you think I haven’t caught on to the panic room being built closer to my 18th birthday or the meetings you were always in, or the gunshots wounds and in the furniture or the excessive alarm system, or the fact that your company doesn’t make a lot of money or sell a lot of items, yet we afford more then we should be able to.” I stated. “So, you knew?” Axeton asked appalled. “For a little while now” I answered honestly. “Knew what exactly?” My mother hissed. “That dad is the don of the mafia?” I said confused. “I think we figured that out Carly” My father scoffed. “Okay, so I think I’m going to go to bed before the alcohol I drank tonight ends up on the floor or the furniture” I smiled and headed upstairs. “I will find a way to get you out of this” My father said. “You know as well as I do that won’t happen” I smiled and continued walking. I went into my room and undressed, I didn’t even bother putting clothes back on, I crawled under my covers and fell asleep. Slowly realizing this would be the last time I slept in my bed or even in my room for a while. I know John Kinsey said I would be able to see my family but under what circumstances. And all of my suspicions were confirmed that my father was in fact a Don in the Mafia. I knew for a fact tomorrow would be a long day, but I would have a nice plane ride to sleep through. AXETON’S P.O.V. “Why didn’t you stop her?!” My father whisper yelled. “I tried” I scoffed. “This is a good thing Daryl calm down.” my mother opposed pouring herself a glass of wine. “Are you kidding me right now Crissy!” My father yelled. “Dad, you and mom can fight later, we need to focus on Lorelei” I hissed. “I don’t know why everyone is thinking of this as a bad thing. So, Lorelei is getting married to another Mafia members son, it’s no big deal.” My mother scoffed. “You need to shut the f**k up.” I hissed at her. “Excuse me?” She asked offended. “Shut the f**k up and get out” I hissed again. “You will not---” She started to say. “I will not what? Talk to you like that? Tell you to get out? Why? Should I be all oh mommy dearest with you? I think not.” I sneered. I was in pure rage at this point. “Daryl?” She looked at him for help and he waved her off. “Whatever” She hissed and marched upstairs with a bottle of wine. The next few hours consisted of making phone calls to every Mafia clan we are friendly with. Between my father and I we could have a whole army by morning. “Axeton let's call it a night” My father huffed. “But dad” I scoffed. “No Axeton, Lorelei made a deal. She has to be the one to back out of it or it will be invalid anyways.” My father huffed again. “Dad” I said lowly. “Axeton bed, now!” he demanded. I looked at him for a moment before following his orders and going to bed. As much as I didn’t want him to be right, I knew he was, and as much as I wanted Lorelei to get her head on straight and back out or run away, I knew she wouldn’t. Not at the risk that one of us or any of us could possibly be hurt in the process. I went to bed. I laid in bed for hours and hours on end just searching my mind for anything that could help us. Eventually I drifted off to sleep without a second though in my mind. DARYL’S P.O.V. I sat downstairs thinking of the night over and over again. The argument with Crissy, Lorelei and Axeton going to that party, John Kinsey braking into my house and holding me hostage while my only daughter signs her life away to some man she has never even met. Was I that much of a horrible father? Did she want to get away from me that badly? She didn’t even second guess anything she just made a counter offer? Who does that? In the time of tragedy who in their right mind comes up with a counter offer? Does she know what this entails or was she just desperate to get away from us? I guess not since she asked for 24 hours. How long has she known? A few weeks? Months even. Probably. “Benny?” I asked as my phone rang. “What happened?!” He yelled. “Is Lorelei okay?!” he yelled again. “Benny, Lorelei is fine. However, I think all of you need to come over first thing in the morning.” I answered calmly. “All of us?” he asked. “Everyone from our family. Please Benny, do this for me” I asked. “Okay, 10 am.” He answered and hung up the phone. I pondered more on the topic for a little while and drank the rest of my Burbon and headed to bed. Whatever tomorrow had instore for me, I wasn’t allowed to be drunk or hungover when Lorelei got up. LORELEI’S P.O.V. I woke up and rolled out of bed, I notice a glass of water on my nightstand and however it got there I am more than thankful. I crawled to the shower and the memories of last night started flooding back. The party that I caught Cory and John doing the nasty at, the whisper with Jackson, the s*x with Jackson, leaving Alex and Jackson in the kitchen, coming home, the man sitting at the table. Everything came back all at once and panic set in for a few seconds. “Lorelei?” Someone yelled as my door was opened. “In the shower!” I yelled back. “I’ll wait out here for you” They yelled again. That’s weird, what man would be in my house? In my room? I quickly finished my shower and headed out in a towel; I didn’t think to grab clothes. “Hi, sorry. I didn’t take clothes in the bathroom with me, would you mind turning around for a second?” I asked as I cracked the door open. “Oh yeah, no problem” He answered. I rushed out the door and grabbed clothes out of my closet and rushed back into the bathroom. I threw my cute little romper on quickly forgetting it ties in the back. “Okay” I came out of the bathroom with a smile. “Hi Lorelei, my name is Alex” The man answered turning around. “Hello Alex” I smiled. “I am your bodyguard. From John Kinsey” he smiled again. “Oh okay, cool. So, Alex, think you can help me out here?” I asked turning around. “Oh um, sure” He smiled tying the back of my romper. “Thanks” I smiled turning around. “You are welcome” He smiled stepping back. “So, I have a friend named Alex” I said walking awkwardly around my room. “Yeah, is he nice?” he asked. “She, and yes.” I giggled. “Well, it seems as if your father is having some sort of gathering, I have to go down and make sure none of them will kill you” He laughed. “Go ahead, I’ll set my plan for today” I smiled. He walked out the door and I quickly put everyone I wanted to see before I left in a group chat. Alex, Jackson, Kassie, Joe, Amila, Robbie. ‘Hey everyone, I have some news. I want to meet tonight for dinner, everyone free around 6?’ I texted. While waiting for everyone to reply I thought back to Alex. He was 6ft at least with green eyes and dark brown hair perfect for his face. “Hey, Lorelei. Everything okay. We can go down whenever you are ready.” Alex said craking my door. “Okay, give me a second” I smiled. ‘Hey, that sounds great. Everything okay?’ Alex replied. ‘Perfect, where are we meeting’ Kassie answered. ‘I’m not going to have time to reply to everyone so my house 6pm. Please everyone come.’ I answered and left my phone upstairs. I headed towards the door. “Ready?” He asked. “Yep” I smiled and started walking down the hall. “So, were you serious about making sure no one was going to kill me?” I laughed “Yep, something I had to do every time anyone comes over or we go somewhere” He smiled. “Okay, I have some friends coming over tonight for dinner. Any chance you won't frisk them when they get here?” I asked “Probably not, sorry Lorelei” He answered. “It’s okay, it’ll make explaining things to them a little easier” I laughed as I walked down the steps. “Lorelei!” My mother hissed. “Yes?” I asked. “Do not flirt with your bodyguard!” She hissed again. “I made a joke, I laughed.” I scoffed and walked past her. “She always that uptight?” He whispered. “She might be the one that tries to kill me” I shrugged. “Are you kidding?” He asked. “Eh” I laughed and went about to the little get together my dad was having. “So, for everyone asking. Lorelei is being married off to another Mafia.” My father grunted. “What?!” Benny yelled. Soon the whole room was yelling and screaming and whispering. “STOP!” I yelled as loud as I could, everyone attention was now on me. “Listen it’s not like I really had a choice, okay?” I laughed. “You think this is funny?” Benny yelled at me. “No, humor is how I cope with things I can’t control.” I answered. “Axeton and I went to a party last night, I know I know, teenagers are crazy with all of their partying, right? Anyways, we got home around two this morning, all the lights were on which was odd but then a car pulled in behind us. Blocking really our only way out. So, we went inside after Axeton yelled at the car for a minute, Crissy and dad were tied up and this man, John Kinsey sat at our table. Now up until last night I had no one I was in a Mafia family but I had my suspicions. So, he proposes a marriage with his son, I counter with 24 hours to get my affairs in order. He agrees, so at 2 am I will be going to New York and living there. I will still be able to see my family and go to college, but I will do it while planning a wedding and living in a house instead of a dorm.” I explained. “Daryl how are you okay with this?” Aunt Carrie asked. “I’m not” He scoffed. “No, but if I wouldn’t have agreed at all, dad would dead and I wouldn’t be here anyways.” I replied. “And who's the man?” Benny asked. “This is my bodyguard, Alex” I smiled. “He gave you a bodyguard?” Benny asked. “Yep” I answered. After a few more questions I already started just nodding at people when they talked and tuned them all out. I looked at the watch on Alex’s wrist and realized it was already 4:30. “Hey everyone, I’m really sorry but I need to go pack now.” I smiled and addressed them all. “Dad, I'm having dinner with some friends here at 6. Please make everyone leave before that” I smiled. “Of course.” He smiled. “Alex, wanna help?” I asked “Um I’m not---” He started to say. “Thanks” I grabbed his arm and led him upstairs. “Why do I have to help?” He asked. “So, we can gossip” I smiled. “About?” He asked confused. “The don's son, I need to know who I am marrying” I laughed. “Oh, Jess. He’s a good guy, we were friends growing up for a while so his dad thought it would be good if I was your bodyguard” He smiled. “Great” I smiled “Gossiping over?” He asked with a raised brow. “Nope, need more” I smiled pulling out my nice suitcase. He told me a little bit about the family, meaning the names and how old they were. However, I couldn’t get him to budge on the Jess stuff but at least I know his name. Jess, short for Jessie? Maybe. We talked and he helped me pack. Meaning I handed him stuff and he put it neatly in the suitcase. “Lori?” I heard Axeton say. “Yeah Axe?” I smiled. “You okay?” He asked cautiously. “I’m fine” I smiled again. “Lori stop packing and talk to me, please” He bugged. “What would you like to talk about?” I asked. “This whole situation is really messed up. I’m sorry” He answered. “Axeton, I'm fine with it. Actually, I'm happy I don’t have to be around Crissy anymore” I answered shoving something into Alex’s chest. “I’m actually so happy I might leave earlier then 2 am. I mean a full 24 hours isn’t going to make her hate me any less, is it?” I said angrily. “Lori stop. I need to tell you something” Axeton said grabbing my arm. “What?” I scoffed. “Mom didn’t want you” he answered. “Well, I knew that” I laughed. “No, I mean they didn’t know we were twins, when she had me great, but then came you and she hated you. Despised you. She made dad take you and wouldn’t even be in the same room with you. Then I got too much for mom to handle on her own so she gave me to dad to, then when she felt she was ready to take me back we had bonded so much that we wouldn’t stay apart. Then she got used to you but she still hated you. She still hates you. She told me it was because you didn’t deserve any of the love, she had for me and she wouldn’t love me any less to be able to love you. And I yelled at her, I told her it wasn’t right. But I needed to tell you before you left forever” Axeton explained. “Well, I always knew she loved you more Axeton” I sniffled. “Lori” He said lowly. “No Axeton you know what? I am so over this, all of it! So, she hates me. Okay? Did she have to go all Evil Step-mom on me? Making me scrub the floors on my hands and knees at 10 years old? No. Making me clean up after every f*****g party starting at age 10? No! Did she have to tell me I looked fat or disgusting or improper in everything I wore? NO!” I answered until tears were streaming down my face. “Oh f**k her Axeton, and in some way. f**k you to!” I laughed. “What?” Axeton asked. “f**k you!” I answered. “Why?” He asked “Really? Why? The times when I was bullied so bad, I was cutting my wrist, when I wanted to end it all but I always put on such a brave face didn’t I? I never looked sad? I never looked like I wasn’t eating? I never looked like the blood wasn’t staining my clothes? f**k, Axeton just f**k!” I yelled. “Lorelei” He gasped. “I am so f*****g sick of you thinking it was okay to never be there for me anymore. It wasn’t okay! It will never be okay Axeton! And you playing bodyguard at last night's party wasn’t okay either! I wanted to have fun and be a kid again but I wasn’t able to because I was so busy having someone watch my every f*****g move! Great time to really start being a brother. Amazing timing!” I yelled again and walked out the door. “Lorelei!” Alex yelled as he ran after me. “What Alex?” I asked. “It’s 5:45” He smiled. “Great, f*****g great” I laughed and slammed my back into the wall behind me. “You wanted to see your friends did you not?” He asked. “Yeah” I smiled. “Lorelei why are you sitting on the floor, and crying none the less?” Crissy asked. “f**k you” I hissed. “Excuse me?” She snapped back. “f**k YOU!” I yelled as loud as I could. Soon everyone who was getting ready to leave came rushing up the steps. “Lorelei lower your voice we have guests.” She smiled. “Why? You don’t want everyone to know?” I laughed. “What’s going on Lolli?” Benny asked. “Oh, I’ll tell you what's going on, or Crissy would you like to?” I smirked. “Lorelei stop this now!” She yelled. “Okay, I’ll do it!” I scoffed. “So, from the age of 10, I was made to stay up until every single one of you left. Including you Uncle Benny, it wasn’t lady like when a girl went to bed while there was a party being held. Then after everyone left, I was made to clean, clean everything. All the mess that everyone made that she joked ‘oh the maid will clean this up’ Yeah, she was talking about me. Wouldn’t you know? Sometimes I would even have to scrub the floors on my hands and knees if someone got mud on the floor and it wasn’t coming up with the mop” I laughed. “By god I think she’s lost it” My mother insisted. “I have lost it. Lost pretending that you ever cared about me. It's okay, Axeton told me everything. How you never wanted me, couldn’t even be in the same room as me. How you couldn’t give away any of the love you had for him so you hated me instead, how dad took care of me always. Night and day and managed everything else. How when you couldn’t take care of Axeton anymore you gave him dad, then when you wanted him back, we were so attached and you just didn’t want me even more. Didn’t know it was possible but somehow Crissy, somehow. You hated me more then you did when I was a baby” I yelled infuriated now. “Now, if you all will excuse me, my guest should be here in about” I said and looked at Alex’s watch again. “Two minutes and I need to go cleanup” I smiled and walked away. I heard yelling and screaming and crying and sobs and eventually silence. I figured they all killed each other. Turns out my father looked them all in the panic room so I could enjoy the rest of my evening. Thank God for him. The doorbell rang and Alex rushed down to grab it and no doubt frisk everyone while I finished cleaning up. “Hey everyone” I smiled as I came downstairs. “Hey?” Alex said confused. “Alex did you frisk them?” I asked. “Huh?” Alex said. “Oh yeah, so you are going to be Alex 1 tonight. This is Alex 2” I laughed. “Alex 2 really?” He laughed. “Fine, what do you want it be?” I asked. “I don’t know something cool” He chuckled. “Fine your name is Bond, James Bond” I laughed. “I’m not fighting you on this, and yes I did” He laughed. “Okay, this Bond, James Bond. He’s, my bodyguard. Real name is Alex but it might be a bit confusing” I smiled and led them into the dining room where dinner was already on the table. “Bodyguard huh?” Jackson asked. “Yeah, so everyone sit and I'll explain some things” I smiled. “Okay” Kassie smiled. “Okay, so I’m leaving tonight and I don’t know when I will be back” I said bluntly. “Wait what?” Alex said confused. “Yeah, I’m getting married apparently” I smiled again. “To who?” Jackson asked spitting out his water “I can’t really tell anyone that but I can tell you it’s a business agreement” I smiled. “Lorelei, we had s*x last night, were you engaged then to?” Jackson asked. “Oh well, no.” I answered honestly. “Okay so how did this-” Alex asked and stopped finally putting the pieces together. “Your family is in the Mafia aren’t they!” She yelled. “Alex keep your voice down!” I yelled. “Sorry” She whispered. “I’m kidding, I don’t really care. Yeah, apparently my family is Mafia oriented and I had no idea until las night I come home, my parents are tied up and there's a man sitting at my table offering me a proposition. I gave him a counter which was 24 hours to say goodbye to my friends and family and properly pack” I smiled. “Wait you left around 2 am didn’t you?” Kassie asked. “Yeah, but I'm leaving at 10pm. As soon as Mr. Bond, gets ahold of the Don” I smiled. “Wait you and Jackson had s*x last night?” Amila asked. “Yeah” I shrugged eating my salad. “Did everyone else know?” She asked. “Well, I’m assuming by the text I got from Alex at 1 am telling me she knows we did Jackson spilled the beans to her. And I'm sure everyone else will find out soon enough” I smiled. “Was it any good?” Amila asked, Jackson about spit out his drink again. “Yeah, Lorelei. Was I any good?” Jackson taunted. “Yeah, it was great. I swear my soul left my body and was watching from above. I got all the good angles” I said sarcastically. “It was good. As one last hurrah it was nice.” I smiled. “Something to look forward to” Alex smiled. “You don’t mind he slept with Lorelei last night?” Robbie asked. “No, it was a hook-up. They happen” She smiled. “Okay, now let's eat because I’m starved.” I smiled and ate my food. Everyone asked all the questions they wanted to or needed to. The girls asked mostly about Jackson but it was good. After dinner I said my goodbyes. Alex cried, I cried. Kassie wanted to smoke one last time so I did while Mr. Bond watched closely.
