" no..” Tina said as she grabbed hold of Adura's hand, Adura noticed the excitement In her mother's eyes
“ if you were an ordinary human, the orb would have turned completely white. but since nothing happened it could only mean one thing ” Tina explained with unconcealed joy.
“ which is...” Adura asked .
“ you are a Chimera ” Tina said
“ Chimera... What is that. ” Adura was confused, she did not know what a Chimera was, but from the way her mother was acting it seemed like it was a good thing.
“ Chimeras are one of the rarest and most feared monsters, they can replicate the skills and abilities of any animal of their choice. They can also transform to any animal they like, as long as they have seen the animal before ” Tina's eyes sparkled with pride as she described the Chimera.
“ I understand, but why are Chimeras so feared ” Adura asked, although the Chimeras sounded awesome,she could not still understand what made them so feared.
“ the Chimeras can transform into any animal, including mythological animals. ”
Tina said.
“ are mythological animals strong ” Adura asked
“ yes, there are five mythological animals which are the nine tailed fox, the azure dragon, the Phoenix, the white tiger, the black tortoise. All these animals are extremely powerful ” Tina said
“ only one of these animals can destroy an entire continent ” she added.
Adura was left dumbstruck, she now understood the essence of the power of the Chimera.
“ I can't believe I possess such power ” Adura said with glistening eyes.
“ but you mustn't tell any one about it ” Adura's father put a halt to the mother and daughter daydream.
“ why.. ” Adura asked confused.
“ if people found out about your real abilities, what happened today in your human school would just repeat itself ” her father said coldly, Adura's face instantly fell.
“ Derek... ” Tina called out with caution, she did not want Adura to remember any bad memories.
“ don't mind your father, he is just worried about you.” Tina said, she did not want Adura to misunderstand her father.
“ I..I understand” Adura tried to force a smile. What happened today at school still lingered in her mind.
Her mother and father had been watching her ever since she was a child and hey knew everything about her.
“ your father is right, if you tell people that you are a Chimera, they would only try to use you because of your power ” Tina tried to break thing down for Adura without saying anything that might trigger a sad memory.
“ will I just pretend to be a normal human being ” Adura asked with raised eyebrows.
“ no, you'll pretend to be a Corvin ”this time Derek answered,
“ what is a Corvin.. ”
“ Corvins are a little similar to a Chimera, the only difference is, they can only posses abilities of three animals ” Derek said
“ so you mean I can pick any three animals I like ”
“ yes, as long as you have a clear image of them in your mind, and you know what their abilities are ”
“ awesome... ”
“ so.. do you have any animal in mind ” Derek asked
“ yes ” “ what are they ”
“ the cat, eagle and the elephant ” Adura said excitedly.
Derek and Tina were left speechless, girls at her age liked animals such as bunny, peacock, doves but she was different.
But then Derek thought deeply about it,
If she had the speed of an eagle, the strength of an elephant and the flexibility of a cat, then she could become a very fierce fighter.
“ very good..” Derek said, unknown to him that's small smile had crept to his lips. Seeing her father's smile, Adura felt a strange sense of accomplishment.
“ you'll officially start monster school tommorow,” derek said,
“ you better get some rest, I'll be leaving now” he said as he stood up and left.
Only the mother and daughter were left in the room. For a few seconds none of them said anything to each other.
“ m..miss Tina...” Adura was cut off
“ please, call me mom ” Tina said with expectant eyes.
“ m..mom ” Adura managed to say. Tina's eyes immediately became wet with tears, she had waited for 18 years to hear her daughter call her mom. She could not contain her emotions, she hugged Adura tightly as she wept for joy.
It was as if Tina's emotions were infectious because Adura also started crying.
The mother and daughter shared a crying session together for some minutes.
“ I'm sure you must be tired, I'll leave you so that you can rest and digest everything that happened today. ” Tina said after she and Adura had calmed their emotions.
“ school starts by 8 am sharp ” Tina said before she stood up and left the room.
Adura finally took her time to look around. the room was very big, she saw a king sized bed at one end of the room and two doors at another end.
She walked to one of the doors and opened it, that door led to the bathroom which was also very spacious. It had a big pool sized tub at the centre.
She opened and she was shocked to see different types clothes everywhere, the clothes were mainly black and white but there were some with bright colors.
She noticed that all the clothes there were her size.
“ are these clothes all for me ” she asked herself.
After exploring the room, she felt extremely tired so she decided to sleep.
— what if when I wake up, I find out this is all a dream — she thought as she climbed into the bed. But then she remembered the words of her aunt.
— whatever I see here is real — I'll try to enjoy my new life while it lasts.
