Kona runs over to Leif and looks him over. "You're awake!"
Leif smiles at her, "yeah i'm awake. Is there a reason why that’s a surprise?”
"Don't you remember what happened?" She looks at him with both confusion and worry on her face.
Leif moves his hand to his chin and taps his finger a few times in thought. "Well, I remember going on the mission and running into the undead assholes then I remember one of them stabbing me and almost dying. Then I remember getting my wolf and I think that's it. Was there something else?" He looks at Kona and smiles mischievously. She slaps him on his shoulder and chastises him, "I was worried about you you jerk." Leif laughs at her, "I’m just joking. I know what happened, but I am curious why you wouldn't let Astra in and" he looks at Kona again and smirks, "and why you, little mouse, were antagonizing her?" Kona laughs "I will leave that for your friend here and for your father to tell you."
Leif looks at his friend even more confused now and waves his hand towards him, "Well?"
Thornben smiles, "I mindlinked your father so he knows you're up. He's in a meeting but will be here as soon as he can. He did give me permission to explain what's going on with Astra while we’re waiting for him."
Leif nods and Kona excuses herself to head back to the healer while Thornben moves toward the edge of the bed and Leif impatiently exclaims, "Well go on then. I don't have all day."
He chuckles grabbing a chair to sit next to Leif explaining what Astra said while he was sleeping and the plan they came up with to protect him. Leif's eyes kept shifting between his hazel eyes and his wolf's red eyes. By the time Thornben has finished his story Leif is exerting an aura that brings a chill up his friend's back. "I’ll kill that bitch."
Thornben holds his hands up, "Look that's something you and your father need to talk about, but do you think you can reign in your aura a bit? It’s starting to hurt me." He laughs uncomfortably at the murderous look in Leif's eyes while he rubs the back of his neck as the pain of the aura starts to cause a pain there.
After a second the aura is pulled back and Thornben breathes out a sigh of relief, "You really do have a wolf now." Leif nods and smiles at his friend. "I guess befriending the wolfless warrior is about to payoff for you." He teases his friend and they both laugh. "It’s about time. I was getting tired of saving you all the time." Leif laughs stretching, "How long have I been out?" Thornben thinks for a second then starts counting with his fingers, "Well I guess it's been just over a week now, eight days in total if I’m not mistaken." Leif groans, "Well shit."
Thornben laughs "Yeah you scared all of us pretty good. I'm sure Frida is going to give you an earful once she knows you’re up. You know how she gets every time you come back hurt even if it's just a little scratch."
Leif laughs, "You remember the time I came back with a cut from us sparring and she came to your hut to yell at the both of us?"
Thornben chuckles, "My mate kept going on and on after you left about how she was acting like our mother."
Leif laughs again but the atmosphere abruptly changed from playful to serious when Leif looks at his friend, "Thank you for saving me. I don't think I would have made it if it weren't for you."
Thornben laughs "You're damn right you wouldn't have. You owe me man. Do you know how long it took to clean your blood out of Silfr's fur?"
Leif shakes his head laughing putting both hands up in defense, "Hey now that’s not my fault I didn't ask to be strapped to his back."
Both men are laughing when Laeknir comes barreling in the hut with Kona following closely behind holding the talisman from the infirmary. "Leif, you're awake. Gods you scared all of us."
Leif nods at him. He was friendly with the healer and all his thralls because of the friendship between him and his father. Though truthfully he truly enjoyed the healer's company and the people he kept around him were all competent and friendly, so they all naturally got along very well.
Laeknir walks over to Leif to look him over and inspect his wound and Thornben steps back to give them room, but there was nothing there, not even a scar. "Odd, normally it scars especially since you were injured as a human." Leif looks down and notices the smooth skin on his stomach which confuses him as well. "According to my wolf we are very strong, maybe that’s why there isn’t a scar? Apparently my real father was” Laeknir panicking hushes him placing a hand over Leif’s mouth, “We will speak on this when it’s safer.”
Leif, though confused nods slowly as Laeknir moves to close the windows and doors and placing the talisman on the front door. He look to everyone in the room and orders them, “Whatever is spoken in this room now will not leave the room. Understand?” They all nod and Laeknir waves Leif to finish what he was saying. He nods, “Well my real father is Baldur, the God.”
Everyone in the room except Laeknir stills and look at him dumbfounded when Thornben asks, "I’m sorry I think I blacked out. Can you say that again?"
Leif chuckles, "I am the son of the God, Baldur."
He just nods, "Yeah, sure, of course, I mean of course you are. That makes total sense." Leif chuckles again allowing his friends the time to work through their emotions while they come to terms with what was said.
Leif laughs at the looks on all their faces as they go through several different emotions almost all at once. "I know it's hard to believe but it is true. I've apparently had over a week to get over the shock myself."
Laeknir sits down on the edge of the mattress nodding, “I’m not surprised by this. The power of your wolf that’s slowly been growing as each day passed, the fact that you were able to come back to life after being so close to death.” He continues nodding to himself, “A God. I see the signs, but I can’t believe it.”
Leif nods, "Yeah Skuggi, my wolf, is aware how close we were to death, and he has been doing everything he could to heal me as fast as possible." Leif adjusts himself then looks uncomfortable as his stomach roars loudly. "Um sorry to ask but can someone bring me some food. I'm actually starving." Kona smiles, "I’ll grab you as much as I can from the kitchen." Leif nods thanking her but as soon as she's gone Leif shoots out of bed, "Gods i'm about to burst I need to pee so damn bad."
He goes out the back door leaving the other two men laughing at him as he heads into the forest to pee and after 5 minutes walks back into the hut sighing loudly at the relief. "I have never pissed that long before in my life." Thornben and Laeknir both burst out laughing again when Thornben teases him, "Maybe try not getting stabbed next time." Leif charges at Thornben and tackles him. They wrestle until Leif gets him into a chokehold and Thornben taps him in surrender. Leif laughs, "You know you don't have to let me win anymore. I have a wolf now, it's fair game." He stands brushing the dust off his pants then putting a hand out to help Thornben up. He takes the hand offered to him and laughs "I actually didn't hold back that time. You're pretty damn strong."
Leif starts flexing getting ready to gloat when he sees Thornben eyes glass over then just as quickly they clear. He looks over at everyone announcing, "Harald is coming now and he wants to talk to Leif alone. We all need to be gone before he gets here." Everyone nods saying their goodbyes one by one then they leave Leif in peace to wait for his father.
He moves over to his bed laying down to fully experience the new senses he has now that he’s alone.
