MELANKA’S GAMBIT
When Sean learned Elyon had ordered Serefim Security agents to detain Evander, Lector and Durela, he requested the record of charges. There was no record! The trio hadn’t been charged with any illegal activity.
Sean decided to share this information with Melanka in person. They met at a tea and pastry shop not far from the Law and Order Directorate headquarters. The proprietor was a former enforcement officer for the agency and understood Sean’s occasional need for a private parlor.
Sean was seated at the single table in the small room when Melanka was shown in. He stood and they exchanged palm-taps. Melanka studied her colleague’s face carefully before saying, “You look like you’re going to serve some poison with my tea.”
