SAFE HOUSE?
The driver opened the front door and told Egan and Althea to wait on the porch while she secured the house. A couple minutes later she returned and with a flourish waved the couple inside. “Please make yourselves at home. There’s tea in the pantry and beer in the refrigerator. I’ve got to get back to town, but someone from the Directorate will be out here shortly. You might enjoy sitting out on the deck. A pleasant breeze is blowing in across the lake on the back of the property.”
An hour later the doorbell chimed. When Egan opened the door he was shocked to see Liam and Sean standing under the porch light. “We were told someone from the Directorate would be showing up, but I didn’t expect the Deputy Secretary.”
