CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR A SHARED SHAME The next morning while Althea filled four mugs with café, Egan pulled a casserole out of the oven, added the last bits of garnish, and placed the pan in the middle of the table. Sean wasted no time in dishing out a serving for himself. Liam shot a raised eyebrow at his partner for not awaiting their host’s ‘go-ahead.’ “What? I’m hungry and this smells terrific!” Sean said. Laughing, Althea gestured toward the food, “And that’s why you should help yourselves. You’ll find it tastes as good as it smells. It’s one of Egan’s specialties.” After taking a bite, Sean and Liam looked at each other with mirrored expressions of appreciation.
