Chapter Twenty-Nine We arrived on the outskirts of Norfolk, Virginia, on April 12, 1927, for the Chesapeake Bay Regional Tennis Tournament. It was a beautiful spring day, with only a few puffy clouds, like frosted cotton candy, drifting across the cobalt blue.
