Chapter Nine
“Liz,” I said as we walked away from the tennis courts, where we had waited an hour without the boys ever giving up a court. “There is Miss Pompeii.” I pointed across the way toward Hannibal House, where she had just come out of the building.
Liz looked that way.
“I must talk with her for one minute.”
“All right. I’m going to work on my Anatomy assignment.”
I ran to catch up with Octavia Pompeii. When I called her name, she stopped and waited for me.
“Hello, Raji.”
“Miss Pompeii, I just want to tell you how much love I have for the academy and for how you allow me to come here.”
“Raji, you earned your place here. I only gave you the opportunity to join the competition.”
“Yes, and I am so grateful.”
We walked in silence toward the Admin Building.
