Chapter Eighteen

1502 Words
It's 9:00 in the morning on a Tuesday and I'm sitting in English while everyone reads their essay that we turned in a few weeks ago about love and our whole perspective on it. I turned it in late thanks to Noah but I ended up getting more than half credit because it was a little longer than I was supposed to write it. "Jeremy". The teacher calls and Jeremy reads his, the whole class clapping after. "Ava". I stand up and all eyes are on mine. Including Noah. We haven't spoken since the thanksgiving incident. "Love. What is it? I don't know. It is very hard to describe. It's painful yet makes you feel like the best. Love is messed up. It makes you feel so many emotions that sometimes you can't control them, causing you to lie for the better and tell the truth when it's the worst. Romeo and Juliet taught me that love can fall in many places, even when you don't mean for it too. I know someone who's afraid to love and you can tell he is, but he has those moments where he shows he's innocent side and he shows a little love. I know he means well and I'm glad that he's trying, and that's what Romeo and Juliet also taught me. You can love someone and all they have to do is try, they may not learn quickly but soon enough they'll learn to love you the right way. Love isn't supposed to hurt so if you're hurting it isn't love, it's pain. So all in all Love can be a deadly thing if it falls into the wrong hands, but other than that Love is Beautiful". The whole class claps, including Noah. I sit back down in my seat and Noah turns to me. "That was beautiful". He says, smiling. "Thank you". I smile, putting my paper back into my folder. "Hey, would you like to meet my guy friends later"? Noah asks and I smile. "Of course". Lunch finally rolls around and Cassidy and I are sitting at the table and I tell her about this morning and the events that occurred with Noah. "He wants you to meet his friends"!? She asks excitedly and I smile. A few moments later Noah and his group of friends are walking over. "Hey beautiful". Noah hugs me and I blush giving him a tight hug. "These your friends"? I ask Noah and he rolls his eyes. "No these are my drug dealers". He sarcastically replies and Cassidy falls out laughing but then stops once she gets glares from Noah's friends. "These are my best mates. Luke, Calvin, Devin, Jacob, and Harry". Noah says and all the boys wave again. "My name's Ava and this is my best friend Cassidy". I smile and the boy named Devin looks me up and down and then winks, Noah gives him a glare and Devin looks away. The bell then rings and Noah pulls me aside while everyone starts to go to their 6th period. "Come to my house after school". He kisses my cheek then walks away. I smile as I walk into my 6th period. Noah isn't here and I wonder where he went that quick but I forget about it and start to do my work. He walks in 10 minutes later, holding two papers in his hand. He sits next to me and hands me one of them. It's a formal ticket. "They're still selling them"? "I had my friend hold them for me because I didn't want to risk losing them". He shrugs and I nod, continuing to do my work. My 7th period goes by quickly and as soon as I know I'm outside Noah's house knocking on the door. Five minutes later he finally answers the door and he appears to be shirtless. I'm able to see every tattoo on his body. The one that seems to stand on the most to me is the two doves on the side of his waist. All his tattoos look like a beautiful well painted picture. "Are you going to stand there like an i***t or are you going to come in"? He says smirking and I roll my eyes playfully at him and walk in. "Let me go find a shirt". He mumbles heading upstairs. "You don't have to, I've seen a shirtless guy before". I say crossing my eyes. "Oh so you're not as goody two shoes as I thought you were". He raises his eyebrows and I playfully punch his arm. "I'm just kidding but seriously though I thought you were boring". He says grabbing a beer from his kitchen while I go in his living room and sit down on the couch. "So, you told me to come over here so you can insult me"? I ask and he chuckles. "No I wanted to tell you sorry for the way I've been acting. I've been going through a lot". He sighs, leaning back in the chair. "Also for your information I'm not boring I just know how to keep myself in check". I point out and he rolls his eyes playfully. "Give me an example". "Well, I've had a boyfriend". I smile and he laughs. "What"? "That doesn't make you not boring. Give me another example". "I once lied about my grade to my mom. I got a B but I lied and told her I got an A and the teacher graded it wrong". Noah sighs, leaning in closer to me. "There has to be something else that doesn't make you boring". "I'm not a virgin". I mumble. "You're not? I hate to believe that". He chuckles out loudly and a look of anger wipes across my face. "Why is that so funny? How come you don't believe me"?! "Calm down love. I just don't think you would be that type of girl". "You don't know who I am". "Your right. You don't know who I am either". He shrugs. It stays silent for a moment until I break it. "So what now"? "This". Noah says then pulls me close to him and kisses me passionately. "I've been wanting to do that since we first met". We continue to make out and he stops to lift up my shirt. "Your body is so gorgeous". He murmurs and places me on the couch lightly and continues to kiss my neck down to my shoulders. He then unclips the back of my bra and mutters "beautiful". I smile and watch him carefully at the movements he's making. A few moments later there's a knock on the door. Noah groans and gets up as I put my shirt back on and he goes to answer the door. I hear yelling and I already know it's Josh starting something but to my surprise it's not Noah. It's a man. My father? I lean in closely to see if I can hear what they're talking about. "I told you what would happen if you didn't do it. I already gave you a black eye. I can give you something worse next time.". So my father gave Noah the black eye? "I know I'm trying but-". "You're not trying hard enough. Emma was a good cover up. I want him gone by tonight". I hear my father say and then leave. Noah sighs and I quickly go back into the room and act like I hadn't heard anything. "Want to continue what we were doing"? Noah asks and I shake my head. "Who was that"? I ask and he shrugs. "just an old friend". "Oh". I sit there spaced out for a moment and I notice something on the side of his stomach. It's a tattoo. "You like it"? Noah asks snapping me out of my trance. I nod, still not knowing what it is. "Olivia says forever. Mine says Always. We got it our freshman year". Noah says and I nod looking at it a little more. It's two doves kissing. It was honestly the cutest thing. "What happened"? "We were toxic". He says, looking away. There was another pounding knock at the door and he gets up and goes to answer it soon calling out my name to come where he is. I get up and walk to the front door to see one of his friends that I met earlier. "Hey ava right'? He asks, giving me an awkward fist bump and I smile nodding. "Devin right"? I ask and he smiles and winks then notices Noah's uncomfortable face and backs away slightly. "So man what did you need"? Noah asks. "The boys and I are heading over to the karaoke bar tonight you up for it"? Devin asks and Noah turns straight to me. "You wanna go"? "I actually have a history project that needs to be done but maybe next time". I smile kissing his cheek then quickly heading out the door and heading inside my house. "Dylan"?
