Chapter Thirteen

3 weeks. 3 weeks since I've talked to Noah and I've been avoiding him since. My mother got discharged from the hospital last week and she's been resting peaceful in her room, and Josh and I help her around the house whenever she needs it. Cassidy and I have been getting ready for Halloween which is today and I'm beyond excited. I'm dressing up as a cat which I know is basic, but I have no one to dress up with. Cassidy and her boyfriend are going as Harley Quinn and Joker. Sam and his girlfriend are going as Salt and Pepper, and Josh I have no clue.

"C'mon Ava, Josh we're going to be late"! Cassidy yells from downstairs.

I finish my last tough on my outfit and make my way downstairs to see Cassidy taking a picture in the mirror of her outfit.

"You look so good". I say walking over to her, smiling.

"You do too". She smiles pulling me close to her as we take a funny picture in the mirror.

"I'm definitely posting that on i********:. It's so cute". She smiles showing me the picture and I nod in agreement and smile.

"Where is Josh we're going to be late"? Cassidy Groans.

"Cassidy, how can we be late? It's a party". I laugh and she huffs.

"If you get there early you don't have to pay".

"Josh hurry up"! I yell and Josh comes running downstairs.

He has on a black shirt with a brown leather jacket on top, tan colored pants and brown boots.

"What on earth are you wearing"? I ask, Cassidy and I both start laughing.

"Indiana Jones, do you guys live under a rock or something"?

"That's where I'll be tonight after walking out in public with you". Cassidy says and Josh flips her off.

"Alright anyways are we ready to go guys"? I ask and they both nod. Right before we walk out the door my mother stops us.

"I know you didn't try walking out here before saying bye".

"Sorry mom". I smile giving her a hug and so does Josh.

"Cassidy please take care of these two. Don't do anything stupid and I want you back by one". My mom playfully scolds Cassidy and she nods, giving my mom a hug.

We all wave one last goodbye before we take off to the party.

Once we arrive it's already crowded. There's drunk people passing out on the ground, couples snogging each other, red cups thrown all over the lawn, and many other normal things you would see at a high school party.

We get out of the car and walk in, being greeted by the host of the party.

"This party is so cool"! Josh yells over the music and soon walks away from Cassidy and I.

"Where's Sam"? I ask and Cassidy quickly spots Sam and Katy, pointing to the bar area.

As soon as we walk over to them we all hug and I give Sam and his girlfriend a compliment. "You guys look so adorable".

"Thank you, you look great". Katy says beaming with a huge smile.

"Is Jaden here"?

"yeah , I think I saw him upstairs". Sam says, taking a sip of his drink.

"I'll be right back". I say to Cassidy and she stops me.

"Uh what happened to you saying that I couldn't leave you"?

"I want to go find Jaden real quick. I'll be fast". I giggle and she huffs, rolling her eyes.

I push past the sweaty dancing people, and make my way upstairs. Once I get upstairs I have a sudden urge to pee so I go and try to find a bathroom and luckily there's a bathroom right where I'm standing. I walk in and see Vanessa sitting on the bathroom counter making out with a guy. Vanessa has been my enemy since elementary. When I first met Sam she had a crush on him and thought that I wanted to date him, since then everything has been a competition for her. From spelling bees, to class president, even boyfriends.

I quickly close the door and decide to hold my pee and continue to look for Jaden.

I open one of the doors to see Jaden looking around the room, picking up different books.

"Hey you". I smile, walking over to him.

"I didn't know you were coming". He smiles, giving me a big hug.

"Yeah, I thought Cassidy told you"?

"Well, I didn't know if you were still coming because I heard Noah might be here". He says softly.

"Oh, have you seen him tonight"?

Jaden nods and hands me the book he was holding in his hand when I first walked in.

"What's this"?

"Open it". He says pointing to the front page. I open it and see nothing but photos of different kids, so I continue to look through the book when I come across something. It looks like Noah but younger.

There's a caption next to it that says 'No matter how far you go I'll always be a part of you'.

"It's a yearbook". Jaden says.

"Okay but where did you find it, and whose is it"?

"It's Noah's. The girl who wrote it was his ex in the 9th grade".

"How do you know that"?

"His friend Jacob was telling me more about him. He used to be friends with Noah before he moved". Jaden says, looking at the book some more.

"What made you ask him about Noah"?

"Well, after the argument I got curious to see if Noah is known around here". Jaden shrugs.

I forget that I have to pee and I change the subject quickly, not only because I didn't want to hear about Noah, but I also needed to pee.

I spot a bathroom right in the room and I excuse myself. As I'm then washing my hands, there's a knock and I figure it's Jaden.

"I'll be out in a second".

The bathroom door then bursts open and a girl around my age with blonde hair runs in, and goes straight to the toilet.

I rush over to hold her hair up as she throws up.

"Too much to drink"? I ask, chuckling with a small smile and she nods. She goes back done a few more times, throwing up what was left in her and she starts crying.

"What's wrong"?

"The only reason why I drank so much is because my boyfriend broke up with me". She says, crying into my shoulder.

"I'm sorry". I say rubbing her back gently.

"Does he go to our school"? I ask and she nods.

"Yeah, he's your brother". She says and my Jaw almost drops. Josh never told me he had a girlfriend.

"Oh, I'm so sorry. Do you want to hang out with my friends and I for the rest of the night"? She nods and she gets, washing her hands and we both walk out the bathroom and Jaden gives us a weird look.

"Don't even think about it like Jaden". I scold Jaden and he laughs.

"I hate to interrupt your kiddie party, but everyone's about to play spin the bottle, you coming"? Cassidy says walking in.

"Sure, we'll be right down, by the way my asshole of a brother broke up with her, you mind if she hangs out with us"? I asked Cass, and the girl I just met waved her hand.

"Of course, and by the way honey, Josh has nothing going for himself besides a trashcan and a homeless sign so you'll be fine without him". Cass says and the girl smiles and Cassidy gives her a hug.

"Oh wait we forgot to ask what your name was". I laugh and the girl giggles.

"It's Emma". She held her hand out.

"Ava". I say smiling, shaking her hand.

"Alright let's go kiss random people". Jaden says, throwing his hands up in the air and we smile heading downstairs.

As soon as we get downstairs, Cassidy leads us into a room full of a circle of people and a tiny bottle in the middle of them. We get to the front of the circle and Cassidy smiles, looking at Liam, spinning the bottle. It lands on a girl from across her. She stands up and so does the girl and they have a 2-minute make out session before Liam makes them pull away.

"Jaden"? Cassidy asks and Jaden shrugs, spinning the bottle and it lands on Vanessa. She smirks and walks over to Jaden, sitting on his lap she slams her lips against his. Everyone starts to root them on as Jaden grabs a hold of her ass and they deepen the kiss. She finally pulls away and Jaden looks out of breath.

"Ava". he says smiling.

"Me"?

"Yes Ava. Now go on and spin the bottle". Cassidy says, egging me on. I sigh and spin the bottle, and it lands on a guy with a blue jumpsuit and a Michael Myers mask.

"Go on and kiss him. Don't be shy". Cassidy whispers.

I get up and walk over to him. I stand there and none of us move until Vanessa laughs, making me want to slap her.

"You know in order to kiss me you have to take the mask off right". I joke and the deep voice under the mask chuckles.

He takes off his masks and it's Noah. I haven't seen him since our argument three weeks ago when he walked out.

I turn to walk away and he says "Nope. You spun the bottle, and it landed on me. You have to kiss me".

"I don't kiss people who are disrespectful to me". I say, still angry at the shenanigans he pulled on me a couple weeks ago.

Noah grabs my arm before I try to walk away again and pulls me close to him.

"Kiss me or your chicken". He whispers.

"What are you five? I told you no, what do you not under-". He cuts me off by slamming his plump lips against mine. After what then feels like eternity, he finally pulls away leaving me breathless. "Happy Halloween Ava". he whispers in my ear before pulling away completely, giving me a wink and then walks away.

I stand there shocked, confused, and somehow wanting more.
