Love Is Deadly

Chapter Four

I awake to the sound of my alarm clock on my phone ringing. I grab my phone and groan, turning off the alarm. I look at the time and see that I have to go before Cassidy's parents catch me. I'm just glad it's Friday so after today I get a rest.

I sneak out her window and go back to my house through the backdoor and quietly sneak my way back upstairs.

As soon as I sit down in my bed my phone starts to ring. I look at the caller ID name and it says 'unknown'.

"Hello"?

"Hey". The voice sounded oddly familiar.

"Uh who is this"? I am scared that it might be my killer or something.

"Take a guess, love". The British voice rang through the phone and then it hit me. Noah.

"What do you want and how did you ever get my number"?

"Babe. Chill out". Noah chuckles slowly.

"No I'm serious. What do you want, it's early".

"Not too early to be sneaking in through your back door". Noah remarks.

"What were you stalking me or something"?

"No it's just that you're not good and sneaking around".

"Well, what do you want at 5:30 in the morning? Shouldn't you be sleeping like a normal person"?

He then chuckles and says "If I'm not normal by not sleeping right now then I guess you're not either".

" Who even gave you my number anyway"?

"Cassidy did, and if you must know why I called, I couldn't stop thinking about last night". His deep raspy voice says through the phone making me lose my thoughts for a moment.

"Well, it won't be happening again". I say angrily trying to regain myself from thinking good thoughts about him. I couldn't let him know that he had me wrapped around his finger which he didn't but I had to take caution.

"Someone's a little feisty this morning". He laughs and I roll my eyes.

"I'm not feisty. I just don't want to play any of your games so if you excuse me I need to get ready for school". I say and hang up the phone before he could get the chance to say anything.

I stayed in my bed for another hour and then decided it was time to get up and get dressed for the day.

By the time I get dressed it's 6:30 and Josh isn't up yet so I walk into his room and grab a pillow from his chair and throw it at him causing him to groan.

"Time to wake up i***t".

I then head downstairs and decide to watch tv until it's time to go. My mom and dad left for work already so It's just my brother and I left here.

I decided to pick up breakfast at school instead of here because I wanted Starbucks, so I would stop on my way there.

"I'm getting a ride from Andre I'll see you later". Josh says rushing out the door as I turn off the tv about to leave myself.

I grab my everyday items for school and head out to my car and start it only to find out my car isn't isn't working.

I sit in the car trying to get it to start for about 5 minutes but I have no luck. I called Cassidy and she's already left for school because she had to talk to one of her teachers this morning so I'm stuck with no ride and I can't call my parents because they'll be annoyed and upset the rest of the day.

As I was about to call my last resort which was Sam, there was a knock on my window.

I look up and see Noah smiling and waving like a complete i***t.

I roll down my window and he says "You need a ride love"?

I debate on whether I should just catch a bus or ride with the strange British boy who doesn't know how to control himself around me.

"So, is that a yes or no? you keep staring". He laughs and I roll my eyes, getting out of my car and following him to his car. He opens the door for me and I get in while he stands outside for a second then opens the door on the drivers side and gets in.

The whole ride was silent until I spoke up.

"Can we stop by Starbucks on our way"?

"Sure love, I have a question"?

"What". I mumble.

"How come you hate me"?

"I don't think you want to know that. Too many reasons, I wouldn't know what to name first".

"Okay then, just name one. Name one reason why you don't like me".

"You're annoying". I say bluntly and his eyes widen slightly as he pulls into the drive thru of Starbucks.

"Ouch". He mumbles as I look at the menu deciding what I want.

"Welcome to Starbucks, what can I get you?". A loud peppy voice comes through the speaker. Noah looks at me and I tell him exactly what I want.

Once he orders it the lady tells him how much and I get out my wallet before he stops me, by grabbing it and shaking his head.

"I'll pay. My treat". He smiles and I give him a small smile before looking out the window.

After he pays and I get my drink he takes off to school in silence and luckily the ride to school isn't that far.

As soon as we arrive Noah and I part our separate ways and I go and try to find Cassidy through the crowded halls. I spot her quickly and we're able to talk for eight minutes until the bell rings and we go to our classes.

I sit in English class for ten minutes and notice that Noah isn't here. I texted Cassidy to ask if she had seen Noah and she replied with 'no', so I forgot about it and continued working on my assignment.

Finally, after 20 minutes later the door opens to reveal Noah walking in. His outfit today is a little different than yesterdays. He has on a black rolling stones shirt, with blue skinny jeans and black boots.

He hands the teacher a pass and sits down next to me in his seat not saying a word.

Towards the end of class Noah finally looks at me and says something.

"Meet me at the front at the end of the day so we can go home". He then walks away to his next class.

On my way to my second period I approach Sam and his girlfriend Katy.

"Hey Sam, Hey Katy". I smile.

"Hey how are you"? Sam asks, pulling me in for a hug.

"Eh, I'm tired but thank goodness it's Friday". I say and Katy laughs.

"Same here girl". She holds up her hand and we both laugh, high fiving each other.

It's now the 6th period and I wait for Noah to walk in the door any minute now. I shouldn't be looking for him but he's been distant today. I've seen him through the halls and he's been walking by himself today.

As soon as he walks in I notice he has a glum look on his face. He throws his stuff on the floor sloppily and stays on his phone until the PA makes a noise and everyone stops what they're doing to listen.

"Good afternoon students, make sure you guys purchase your formal tickets. They are half price right now. Have a nice day".

"Are you going to formal with anyone"? Noah asks, finally breaking the silence between us that we've had all day.

"I don't yet. I'll probably go with Cassidy and her boyfriend". I say softly and he just nods turning his attention back to his phone.

The rest of class we remain quiet still and the same things goes with our last class. Noah's sitting next to Cassidy and I with his earbuds in, not paying attention to anything going on around him.

"Is he ok? Has he been quiet all day"? Cassidy asks and I nod my head.

"This morning he was fine but after he dropped me off he's been quiet". I shrug and Cassidy looks at me with a funny look.

"You guy's hung out this morning"? She raises her eyebrows up.

"My car wasn't working so he offered me a ride. Nothing more. Nothing less".

"If that's what you say". She says sounding unsure of what information I just told her.

Cassidy and I learn the dance while Noah ends up falling asleep and when it comes to the end of the class I have to wake him up so that we're able to go home.

"Noah". I whisper slightly and shake him and he stirs a little but doesn't budge.

"Noah". I say a little louder and he opens his eyes slowly and then the bell rings jolting him out of his sleep.

"Bloody hell, how long did I sleep for"?

"The whole class". I giggle and he shakes his head, chuckling a little.

"Go change love. I'll go heat up the car". He mumbles, grabbing his bag and walking out the door. I quickly change out to make sure he's not waiting for too long.

When I get in the car he's humming softly to All my life by K-Ci and JoJo.

 He sings softly to the chorus and I smile as he continues to sing once I get settled in the car.

"Have you ever thought of becoming a singer"? I ask and he shrugs,

"Yeah, all the time. I have music written down and songs recorded too. Just haven't released them".

He then points to the glove department and I open it up to a see a cd labeled 'Olivia'.

"Who's Olivia"?

"My ex. I made an album dedicated to her". He says and grabs it from me popping it in.

"I love you forever babe. I thought you were the one. Was loving you all day. Until time rose up in the sun. Your beautiful girl, and not a moment passes by. Where I regret, loving you having you by my side".

I continued to listen to the lyrics and it sounded like he was heartbroken but he didn't look like it. He seemed like the type to break hearts.

"Did she break your heart"? I blurt out and he turns off the song.

"That's none of your business". He responds coldly.

I stayed quiet for the rest of the ride and as soon as we got there he pulled into his driveway as I grabbed my stuff.

"I'm sorry for being like this". He mumbles, looking down in his lap.

"It's fine". I say before opening the door and walking across the grass to my house.

I unlock my door and the unexpected is in front of me.

"MOM"!
