Chapter Ten

After the Conversation Cassidy and I had yesterday, we took her car to go see my mother and she was doing a lot better. The doctor said she would be able to go home in 2 weeks, which is good because she gets to come home before Halloween.

It's Monday and it's been 2 days since Noah and I hung out, considering we had to finish our project and turn it in, which we successfully got an A on thanks to my help, and it's also been 1 week since Cassidy and I had the talk about formal.

I guess Noah and I are on good terms, he still has an attitude every now and then but other than that he's fine.

I'm currently sitting in Cassidy's car with Cassidy and we're waiting to go inside school. We usually end up waiting for 10 minutes in the car and then 5 minutes by our lockers.

Once the ten minutes go by we head to our lockers where we're both greeted by Sam and his girlfriend Katy.

"Hey Sam". Cassidy says and Sam smiles giving both of us a hug.

"Hey guys". Kathy says and proceeds to hug Cassidy and I as well.

"Oh and before I forget, Ava I ran into Noah earlier he says he wants to talk to you at lunch".

"Ok thanks Sam". I smile and the bell then rings.

As I'm walking to class I feel a tap on my shoulder. I turned around and saw the guy from the hospital 2 weeks ago.

"Hey! Jaden right"?

"Yeah, Ava"? I nod and he smiles giving me a side hug.

"How's your brother"?

"He's good. He just came home yesterday. What about your mom? How is she"?

"Good, she gets to come home in about 2 weeks". I smile as we stand outside my first period.

"That's good, right before Halloween". Jaden smiles and we both walk into the classroom.

Jaden follows me to my seat and sits down in the empty seat in front of me.

"You're in this class too"?

"Yeah, I've been in this class since the beginning of the school year". Jaden laughs.

"Really? How come I've never seen you"?

"I usually skip this class, only because Mrs. Boughen is my Aunt".

"I feel bad for you". I say and Jaden laughs.

Noah walks in 15 minutes after class and sits next to me not saying anything.

"What did you want to talk about at lunch"? I whisper and he ignores me so I decide to leave him alone.

"Is he ok"? Jaden asks and I nod not wanting the two to meet, considering Noah's fighting history with my brother.

"Alright we're doing another project but this time I'll allow you to pick partners". The whole class gets excited and starts to scatter looking for partners.

"Want to be partners"? Jaden asks and I look at Noah whose green eyes look as if they're piercing through my skin.

"Sure". I smile and Jaden gets up and walks to Noah.

"Can I sit here since Ava and I will be working on the project together"? Jaden asks Noah politely but Noah doesn't budge.

Jaden goes to tap Noah on the shoulder when Noah slaps his hand away.

"f**k off". Noah mumbles putting his head on his desk, wrapping his arms around his head.

"I guess we'll just do it this way then". Jaden mumbles turning around facing me.

Jaden and I work on our paper and end up finishing before the bell rings.

"Alright class we have 5 more minutes, try and finish up, if you're behind you can turn it in tomorrow". Mrs. Boughen says and the class continues to work their fastest to get it done. The bell then rings and before I walk out Jaden stops me.

"Can I have your number, it's fine if not I-". I cut Jaden off.

"Yes, here". I laugh, handing him my phone.

He puts his number in my phone and I do the same for him.

"Text you later, I'll see you around". He says before walking out and I smile.

I walk out of the class and I'm pulled over by Sam.

"Hey Sam".

"C'mon you have to see this". He says frantically, pulling my arm to the main hall.

Noah is close up to Jaden and they seem to be arguing.

"Noah what are you doing"? I say walking up to Noah.

"You need to stay away from her"! Noah shouts at Jaden and Jaden doesn't look scared.

"You're not her boyfriend, you can't do s**t"! Jaden says angrily to Noah. Everyone at this point is crowded all around us.

"Your right I'm not her boyfriend but that doesn't give her the right to walk around and be a slut"! Noah shouts and I look at Noah with tears in my eyes.

"Is that how you really feel"? I say, my voice sounding dry.

"Ava. Shit...I-".

"No Noah. How dare you call me a slut. I've been nothing but nice to you these past weeks you have been here and you have done nothing but treat me like nothing. I'm not one of your dumb side chicks Noah. Whatever 'game' you were speaking of when we first met can stop now. I'm done playing your game". I say angrily walking away. Jaden walks after me and catches up to me pulling me aside.

"Hey are you okay"?

I pull him in for a hug as tears start to slip down my cheek.

Jaden rubs my back as we're hugging and I feel safe.
