Chapter 20Namir was pacing the kitchen. Esme had come to get Lucas about an hour ago and said it was time for food, then bedtime. They’d started the incubator. There had been one egg in the chicken coop. Their first egg. Lucas had been so excited, Namir had feared he’d crush it. It was a light, almost pink egg, so it wasn’t Mara who’d laid it. It didn’t matter. It was an egg, so they had twelve eggs in the incubator.
All that was good, great even, but he couldn’t stop pacing. He hadn’t heard anything from Jinx, and he should have by now, shouldn’t he? He didn’t dare call in case he interrupted something important or accidentally messed up the plan, but they should be done now. They should be on their way back, and Jinx had promised to call.
He was most likely busy taking care of Ximena.
