For two months Camp Hope was able to focus on expanding the secure area to the point that the Camp was expanding the security line to the line of inner walls that contained 10,000 acres of land that would be easily converted into farmland for corn, grain, barley and oats for spring harvesting as each of them had a winter growth cycle that could be utilized before summer crops were planted for harvest. It also contained several hundred houses in several subdivisions as well as two apartment blocks that the people were already clamoring to claim for personal housing, offering to lay points out of their salary to afford them.
