Chapter 5 - Is she crazy?

RYAN P.O.V.

"What the hell were you doing?" Lucas yelled as soon as that girl disappeared.

"Why the hell you intervene?" I said with anger as I was so pissed when she mentioned my mother. Back in the pack, nobody dares to mention my mother in front of me.

How dare she?

"What should I do then? huh. You were about to turn in front of her and reveal your secret to a human. Tell me if I was wrong." Lucas explained.

"You are right, I was on the verge of turning into a werewolf but what should I do, she is so arrogant and how dare she brought my mother into this," I said.

"Hey, buddy calms down," Lucas said after passing me a can of beer.

I took the can from his hand and sat down on a chair. "How did you know her?" I asked Lucas after taking two sips.

"She came here for the repairing of her truck that you broke? He replied.

"Knock it off Ryan.... did you forget we have to find that culprit," Lucas added.

Lucas and I decided to scan the whole forest for any evidence. Also, the alpha found out that cops had put bear trap devices in the forest to catch the wild animal. He ordered me to remove all the traps so that the wolves can run into the woods without getting hurt. That's why I came here to take Lucas with me.

After that Lucas and I went to the jungle. We turn into our wolves so that it will be easier to scan the whole forest. Lucas and I went in different directions to find the clues. I warned him to be careful of those traps. I was searching in the parts of the jungle that was closer to the Lighthouse as it was the direct route for humans to enter our territory.

"Pluto where are you? come here." I heard a familiar voice.

That voice sounded so close that I even started to hear that person's heartbeat. That's why I hid in the bushes so that whoever this human was cannot see me and also I could see that person. It was clear from the voice that it was a girl. In the process to hide, I didn't see the trap and accidentally put one of my legs into the trap. As a result, a loud groan came out of my mouth which I think that girl heard. I couldn't turn into a human in front of her otherwise it will be easier for me to get out of the trap.

"Hey, Pluto there you aaaaaaaaa." That girl stopped in the middle as soon as she saw me. And finally, I saw the face behind that familiar voice. It was her 'Annoying Ana '. I knew her name because Lucas mentioned it on our way here.

Her mouth dropped open in awe. She looked like she had seen a ghost. She didn't even blink once and I was able to see the colour of her eyes. She had dreamy blue eyeballs.

"Ana we found Pluto. You should come back." I heard another alien voice. The voice was so faint that I don't think a human could hear it.

"Scott..Scott.Scott..." Ana started whimpering like a child while standing still.

Lucas told me that she works for Scott but what the hell she was doing here with him?

Why do I care?

I shook my mind off and decided to get rid of the trap but as I tried, it hurt so much that I let out another groan in pain that made her jump. She started running but then stopped.

Why? Why?

She turned and came back at the same point she was standing before.

"Are..... you... ok?" She asked in her sweet voice that made me forget my pain for a while. She then gazed at my trapped leg and then looked back at me with worried eyes.

"I will help you to get rid of that but you have to promise me that you are not going to eat me." She spoke again and then waited patiently like I was going to reply to her.

Is she crazy?

It was the stupidest thing I had ever heard in my life but somehow my wolf liked it and nodded his head in response. After that, she started looking here and there. Then she picked up a log from the ground and approached me.

What the hell is she doing?

She started opening the trap with the help of that log which was futile. I was just standing still and watching her patiently doing her thing so that I wouldn't scare her off. She smell so great that I forgot every rubbish thing she said to me earlier and just drowned in her aura.

"It's not coming out.....wait there must be something in Scott's car that I can use." She said after many unsuccessful attempts. And with that, she got up and ran in the direction of the Lighthouse. I just stood there watching her go. When she was out of my sight I came to my senses and turned into a human and with that, I used my whole power to break that trap. Ultimately, I got my freedom. After that, I turned myself again into a wolf to heal quickly. As soon as I got some strength in my wounded leg I started running. I didn't make it too far that I stopped myself when I heard Ana's voice again.

"I am telling you, I saw a wolf there and he was in pain. We should help him." Ana's voice came.

"So you are saying you saw a wolf and you even tried to help him and on top of that he didn't attack you." Another voice came and it was none other than Scott.

Scott burst into laughter after saying that.

"Shut up just come with me and see," Ana spoke. I went a little closer so that I can see them but far enough so that they can't see me.

Ana took Scott to the same place where I was injured.

"Where is your wolf?" Scott asked sarcastically.

"Oh! My God, he was here a bit ago." Ana replied, couldn't believe her eyes.

"I think you were hallucinating. All the history I have told you about this forest had left some effect on you..... Let's go from here, your brother is waiting for us." Scott said.

Ana who was on other hand looking for my sign so that she can prove to Scott that he was wrong, didn't give any comment to Scott's remark. There was this alien feeling arising inside me that forced me to go there as Ana's testimony but I stopped myself.

I watched Ana and Scott until they disappeared around the bend in the shore and then I set off to find Lucas as I hadn't found anything in this part of the forest. Before going I dismantled all the traps. So, there was nothing left for me to do. My long strides covered the ground fast, and within ten minutes, I caught up with Lucas at the edge of the woods behind Michael's farm. I shifted, and so did Lucas.

"I didn't find any wolf scent but I did find a very faint smell of hyenas. It was far away from the spot where cops find the body." Lucas informed me.

"And did you dismantle all the traps.?" I asked.

"Yes." He replied.

Michael was waiting for us inside as we reached there to tell him about our investigation. Michael was sitting in his usual chair by the fireplace when we filed into the large living room. Uncle Peter, his beta, was sitting on the other side of the fireplace next to Lucas' mother.

We interpreted our little investigation to the alpha. After that alpha called a meeting in which he informed them about the investigation and also he commanded the pack warriors to find the whereabouts of the hyenas.

Hyenas are like us, they always travel in groups. So, with our investigation, it got cleared that one of the packs of hyenas had arrived at Luna BAY. And they were behind the dead body. We need to catch them before a human does, as it will attract werewolf hunters towards Luna Bay.

Lucas and I were quite excited about this mission. After finishing high school we had been on many missions during our training period. But the first time I got a mission as a pack warrior in my own home. Luna BAY had always been a peaceful territory. Thanks to our perfect alpha who made this happen. There had been no such type of trespassing happened before.

Lucas and I were given the duty of patrolling at night so that such incidents would not repeat in future until we found the culprit. Lucas and I have always liked to do things together since childhood, whether it's hunting or opening a garage together. We are more like brothers from different mothers.
