Chapter 12 - Where is Ryan?

1270 Words
Ana P.O.V. I slowly opened my eyes to find a white ceiling in front of my eyes. I looked to my left and saw Ryan sleeping on the red couch. I looked around. The room was very huge and way bigger in comparison to mine. My eyes captured the photo collage on the front wall. There were pictures of Ryan together with Lucas and some other people that I didn't know. I got the idea that I am in Ryan's room. But How? The last thing that I remember is being in the forest and witnessing the human-turned hyena being ripped off by my new wolf friend. If it wasn't for my friend's sudden appearance, I would have been dead. I still can't believe how a guy who called himself Jack's father fooled me to go with him and suddenly turned into a dangerous animal. I feel so stupid to believe that guy when he told me that Ben had fallen off the stairs and was in the hospital. What else could I have done, Ben wasn't picking up his phone neither did his friend Jack and I had never met Jack's father....only his mother. So, I trusted him which I later found was a huge mistake in my life and ended up here. "You woke up." Ryan's voice brought me back from my guilt trip. "What am I doing here?" I asked while trying to get up but failed. Ryan came to support me and made me sit on the soft bed. "Thank god you are ok, I was so scared." He took my hand in his. It was so warm. He looked like he hadn't slept last night. I was about to ask him the same question that he ignored earlier but stop as two men in their mid-forties entered the room. They were both muscular like those of serious gym guys. The grey-haired man's feature resembles that of Ryan's. If Ryan is old then he would have looked like him. Another man was half bald with tiny blonde hair. While I was busy checking out two stranger men, the grey-haired man spoke "How do you feel now?" "He is my father and that's uncle Peter - Lucas' father," Ryan informed as I looked at him instead of answering the question. "I am good," I replied after taking an awful amount of pause. "Do you remember what attacked you?" Lucas' father asked. "A...a....umm..a...mountain bear....I think." I lied as there is no way these old fellas going to believe the truth. Ryan looked at me like he had caught my lie and then looked at his father. "You should call your family, they must be worried about you." Ryan's father said calmly. It reminded me that Ben will be home soon from his night stay at Jack's place, he will be worried about not seeing me. "Can I get your phone? I had to call my brother." I asked Ryan who was still looking at me with confused eyes. "Ryan after giving your friend your phone, come and see me ." Ryan's father said before leaving the room. Lucas' father followed him. "Here," Ryan said after handing me the phone and then went out as his father asked him to. I feel a little weird but then ignore it as I had to call Ben. Thankfully, I remembered his number. Again he wasn't picking up. I dialled again as I don't have Jack's mother's contacts and I don't remember Jack's. He picked it up after a long ring. "Where the hell have you been? I have been calling you since night." I yelled. "I am sorry....you must be Ana - Ben's sister. I am Sandy - Jack's mom. He had left his phone downstairs, he is still sleeping in Jack's room." "I am sorry...Mrs Davis for my yelling. I was worried about him." I apologise. "It's Ok. Should I woke him?" Mrs Davis asked. "No..no..no..Actually I needed a favour from you." "Yes dear, tell me." Mrs Davis said warmly. "There has been a little emergency at work. So, I won't be able to pick him up and send him to school. Could you send him to school with Jack and pack his lunch? I will pick him up after school." I requested. "Not a problem dear. I will take care of that but you have to share your special cookies recipe that you send with Jack." She said laughingly. Such a jolly lady that's the reason I agreed to send Ben to her place. "Definitely. Thank you for saving my day." I put down the phone and remove the blanket over me to get out of the bed. A woman entered the room with a food tray in her hand while I was trying to stand up on my one fine leg as the other one had been bandaged on it. "What are you doing? Get back on the bed." She ordered like my mom and put the mini table of food on the bed. "I have to go home. I am feeling fine." I replied. "Ryan will take you but first you have to do breakfast. I had also brought some clothes for you to change while you were sleeping." She said pointing towards the dress lying on the other side of the bed. "You must be Ryan's mother." Her face turned sad with my question, I might have guessed it wrong. "No, I am Lucas' aunt. I was Ryan's babysitter. Ryan's mother doesn't live here." She said with sadness in her eyes. Now, I get why Ryan behaved that way when I mentioned his mother the other day. "I am sorry. You must be Aunt Malia then." I attempted my second guess. "Yes. Did Ryan mention me?" She asked. She was beautiful... so was her dressing sense. She was wearing a yellow floral dress which reaches her knees. Her hair was long and black. "Yes, he told me about the flowers that you had grown at your farm," I said returning the smile. "I like your dress," I added later. "Thanks, dear. But Ryan and Lucas never mentioned you." She spoke after making a plate of sandwiches for me. I was a little bit hurt after knowing Ryan didn't mention me. "I just met them a few weeks ago," I replied. Before breakfast, she helped me change into a blue floral dress like hers. It has green little printed flowers with a tie-up neck and three-quarter sleeves with a flared hem. I first hesitated to take a dress from her as I met her first time but my night suit had a blood stain on it and the dress was so beautiful. It even fit me perfectly. I liked her not because she gave me a beautiful dress or a tasty breakfast but because she was a nice woman. Malia and I went downstairs. She was helping me to walk as I was limping. The hall was very massive. There were a lot of antiques on the wall of the hall. Everything about the house was massive and elegant. Ryan was not there, and so did his father and Peter. I found Lucas in the car waiting for me where I was expecting Ryan. But he was nowhere. I was wondering where did he go but I didn't ask anyone. The ride with Lucas was fine except the moments where he kept asking about the last night and I kept lying. I wanted to tell Ryan about the incident first. But he was not there which was bothering me a little bit. But I don't know why.
