I check my missed messages for the umpteenth time. I sigh in frustration. "Don't worry, honey," Beth says for the third time. "But they've been gone so long. What if something happened? What if it wasn't a lost hiker?" Claire follows my pacing from her playpen, clueless as to why I'm so restless. "They can handle it. Don't forget, they're werewolves, and pretty strong ones at that."
Sighing, I collapse onto the couch. My thoughts drift to Dex, immediately followed by guilt as I think back on how attractive he was when he was giving orders in full Alpha mode. I should be thinking about Bruce, not my so-called mate, who's about to reject me.
