Defeated, I stare at the closed door.
"Well, that went well," Drake remarks sarcastically.
"Oh, shut up," I respond, knowing full well that I didn't handle it the best way. It's like I could only say the wrong words. I hated seeing her in so much pain because of my words. I still stand by my decision, but I should have worded it differently. I could tell she wanted to hide her pain, but I could see it in her eyes. Drake snapped when she suggested that I reject her. And to be honest, it hurt me too. The thought of rejecting her is unbearable.
"Maybe we didn't make the right decision after all," I mutter more to myself than to Drake.
"That may be true, but that doesn't change the fact that the pack could become a target for surrounding packs," Drake remarks.
