As she heard the the exhaust of Steve's car, she tried all her best to hide what she had just experienced. Her mind still shaking from the fear of that Steve may see the video. “Where is he,” Steve asked in a rigid voice. She inhaled deeply, trying to remain calm. “He left already, I didn't give him the chance to come in.” Steve felt a little relieved. “Why was he here this time around.” Jane gasp, not knowing what to say. Steve must not find out about my past. “I blocked him, and he was trying to get to me.” Steve jaw clenched, “now that's it, I must put an end to him today.“ he said in a raging voice. Jane suck in the middle, not know what to do. She had to be careful if she as she wanted to protect the relationship between her and her fiancée. “No one messes what what's mine,” Steve continued. Steve reached for his phone calling some number. “I will show him why no one gets near my family” He asked what information she could provide about him. Jane told him everything she knew. That was all what he needed. Steve ended the call after that. Then.. Jane's phone rang. She was shocked the sound. Mare looking at the screen made her stomach turn. Unknown number. Her body knew instantly before her mind did. It was Kelvin. With her shaking hands, she put the phone to her ear. “Hello?” A slow chuckle drifted through the speaker. “You shouldn't have told him, Jane.“ Kelvin’s voice was smooth, mixed with amusement. Jane's body felt numb. “Now he's in danger too.” She gripped the phone tighter. “Leave Steve out of this!” Kelvin let out a low, menacing laugh. “Too late, I have to protect myself too. You made your choice. Now you'll both suffer.” Before she could response… Steve's phone buzzed. The sound cut through the room like a warning bell. Steve reached for his phone, his expression darkening. “John? What is it?” Jane watched as Steve’s face twisted into something vicious. “Steve,” John’s voice was urgent. “Someone’s tampered with your car. Be careful.” The call ended. For a moment, the world Seemed to pause. Then Steve took his keys and ran towards the door. Jane was right behind him. “Steve, slow down!” But he didn’t listen. Something felt really off. They got to the underground parking garage in record time. Steve's car parked near the exit, its sleek black surface gleaming under the dim fluorescent lights. And then… A loud explosion. Jane's eyes widened as a massive fireball erupted from the car. The explosion sent a shockwave through the garage, knocking them both backward. The air filled with smoke and the burning of metal. Jane's ears rang as she fell to her feet, coughing. Smoke engulfed the vehicle in seconds. Steve froze, his body tensed as he stared at the intense fire that had once been his car. Jane's scream tore through the silence. Steve snapped out of his trance and walked toward the burning scrap. “Call 911!” he yelled. Jane fumbled for her phone, hands shaking as she dialed. Her voice shaked. “There has been an explosion… someone tried to murder us!” Across the parking garage. Steve stood rigid, looking at the flames, his face unreadable. Someone just tried to kill him. And Jane knew exactly who it was. A man who has nothing to lose. The sound of sirens filled the air, growing louder as the time passed. Firefighters stormed the garage, shouting orders as they worked to control the blaze. Jane stood there with Steve, trembling. “This is Kelvin’s doing” Steve didn't flinched. His jaw was set, his hands clenched at his sides. Finally, he spoke, in a low voice, almost unbearable. “He just made the biggest mistake of his life.” Jane looked at him, her heart pounding. The look in his eyes looked unrecognisable, something she's never seen before. A promise. A deadly one. Kelvin had declared war. And Steve? Losing wasn't in Steve's plan. The fire was finally put out, but the damage had been done. Steve's car was nothing but a charred metal. John got there minutes later, his face painted with concern. “You okay, boss?” Steve nodded stiffly. “Find him.” John didn’t have to ask who. He already knew who he was to look for. Jane swallowed hard. “Steve, what are your plans?” He turned to her, his expression unreadable. “I'm going to take care of this.” Jane wasn't sure what he meant by that, but the cold certainty in his tone terrified her. Kelvin has made his move. Now, it was Steve’s turn. And Jane? She was certain she would survive the storm that was coming. That night, Jane rolled and turned in bed, not able to sleep. Steve was in his office, making calls, sending messages…planning something. She knew how furious he was. He wasn’t the type to let things go. But Kelvin wasn’t just a rival businessman or a competitor. He was a man with nothing to lose. That alone made him dangerous. Jane sta uo that night, rubbing her arms. A chill ran down her spine. Then… A noise. Her heart skipped for a bit. The noise came from outside. Slowly, she slid out of bed and padded toward the window. She hesitated before pulling back the curtain. Her breath caught. Kelvin. She fell backwards, panicking. And then… Her phone buzzed. A message. From Kelvin. “Did you really think I was done, that you were Safe?” Jane became short of breath, shallow gasps. She moved away from the window, planning to run… And slammed into Steve. His hands gripping her shoulders, steadying her. “Jane? What is it?” She couldn’t speak. She just pointed toward the window. Steve looked in the direction of her finger. His body went still. Then… He reached for his phone. Dialed and spoke one word. “Handle it.“ Jane shivered. Steve wasn’t playing games anymore. So was Kelvin. The War just begun.
