Chapter 2. My first shift

I went to bed with surprisingly a smile on my face. How did Lucas know my favourite foods? Why was he being nice to me? He had gotten me a bag of green apples. I can't eat the red ones. I just don't like them. Weird I know. There was also a takeaway container with Carbonara in it. I still can't figure out how he knew they were my favourite foods. My thoughts were interrupted by a knock on my door. "Come in." In walks, Lucas. "mom said to remind you that it's your birthday tomorrow, so you are going to shift for the first time tonight, so make sure you are out of here before midnight. she doesn't want you breaking the shed." He says with a shrug. I just nod at him. He turns to walk away. "Oh, Lucas. Um, thank you for the food, but how did you know my favourite foods?" I ask. I generally want to know. He just smirked and walked out. I sigh. I almost forgot it's my birthday tomorrow. Goddess, I'm nervous about my first shift. I heard it's really painful the first couple of times. I wish my parents were here to help me through this. I'm scared.
Near midnight, I go outside into the forest behind the shed and strip from my clothes. I don't want them to be shred to pieces when I shift. midnight, my bones are screaming in pain. I let out a scream and slowly shift. I look down to see white shiny fur grow. I take off running through the forest till I come up to the lake. I look in to see big bright blue eyes looking back at me. My wolf is beautiful. After admiring my wolf, I take off running again. I ran for hours. I know I will regret this in the morning. Once I got back to where I took my clothes off, I shifted back to my human form. I quickly got dresses and headed back into my shed. As I'm walking in, I get a whiff of something amazing. Coffee and chocolate. Where did that smell come from? Who was in my shed? I lay down confused and drifted off to sleep.
I woke up at Sun Rise, got ready, and made my way up to the pack house. I still can't figure out who's smell that was. Though there was something familiar about it but I just can't put my fingue on it. I go right into the kitchen and start preparing breakfast. Once the breakfast is made and the table is set, the Luna comes in. "Go clean Lucas's room, will you? Make sure it's done properly by the time he gets home." The Luna demanded. Lucas isn't home? He must be with one of his many fake blonde skinny "girlfriends." I nod and make my way up to his room. As I get to his door, I get a whiff of that amazing scent again. I'm almost drooling as I open the door. It's so intoxicating. Then it hit me. I just got my wolf. Am I smelling my mate? Wait... it can't be!!!!! NO LUCAS CAN NOT BE MY MATE! I almost screamed. I ran down the stairs and out of the house. I shifted into my wolf and ran. I don't know what I'm thinking. The Luna is going to have my head for this. But I can't be there when Lucas gets back. He hates me. and I hate him. Why would the goddess do this to me? What did I ever do to deserve this?
I must have run for hours. By the time I made it back, I had to go to the pack house to cook dinner. I shifted back at the shed and got dressed. Stupid me shifted with my clothes on. As I got to the back house, the kitchen door was flung open, and an angry looking luna stood glaring at me.

I got back from my friends house at around 1pm. I was making my way up the stairs when my mother stopped me. "Oh, Lucas honey. I got Willow to clean your room for you, dear." she sang. "Mother, I've asked you so many times to stop making her do so much.It is not fair." I scuffed.I hated myself for letting them treat her this way. I'm not on to talk. I was horrible to her growing up. I huffed and made my way to my room. As I got to the door, I stopped. What's that amazing scent? Did Will light a candle in my room? I made my way in and looked around. No candle. It's so strong at the door. It smells amazing. Roses and apples. I sniffed again. Something about this scent is so familiar.
