The Alpha and the Omega

Chapter 2

I have been taking college classes since my junior year of high school. When I graduated 2 weeks ago, I had already completed my associates degree. I have been accepted to a state college in South Dakota with a full scholarship which included boarding.

This was my way out, my freedom from this hell I call a life. This would put me over 1,000 miles away from this life and then I could finally move on. Hopefully, find my mate!

I would leave at dusk during the patrol change. I didn’t have a lot of personal items, so it would be easy to run in wolf form and carry the bag in my mouth. I would run until I was able to get to the bus station where I would purchase a ticket to get me to Texas. Once I was in Texas, they had train tickets that would take me to South Dakota.

It would be too early for my dorms to take me, but I would only have to figure out a place to stay for a month. Even if I had to camp. I had saved almost every penny from working in the cafe located right outside of our boarders. In addition, when I turn 18 I will be able to access the money my parents left me. I just had to make it a little longer.

I played my plan over and over in my head. I was ready and couldn’t wait to get away. I would be in a neutral area and Nova had taught me how to hide my scent.

I hoped that I would still find my mate. That one person, your soul mate. That person that would love you unconditionally. The thought of my mate gave me hope and a purpose. How could it not? Nova talked about it all of the time. She had so much passion about finding a mate. I can’t wait to meet him.

I quickly made my way back to the run-down cottage on the edge of our pack land. I had a few hours to myself before I had to return for the dinner shift. I would train and continue to plan my get away.

Jaysons’s POV

I did not want a mate but my sister kept pushing for me to take a Luna. So here I am picking up the Alpha’s daughter. She was pretty enough and, from her body language, I am sure we will have some fun. As we walked into Alpha Damon’s office, I got hit with the most amazing smell. A mix of lavender and jasmine and my Wolf Beau begins to go crazy and I am having a hard time keeping him at bay. I can tell my mate was here and not long ago.

“So everything is in order and Milly is ready to leave. Unless you would like to stay and have dinner and leave in the morning?” Alpha Damon questioned.

“We will stay.” Was all I could manage to say.

“Wonderful!” Alpha Damon stated “Milly show the Alpha and his Beta to their rooms.”

“Happily” Milly sexually slurred, which was a major turn off. The problem was I didn’t know if it was turn off because I felt that way or if it was because I knew I would be meeting my mate soon.

As we entered the room I would be spending the night in, I turned to Milly and told her to leave. Yeah I was a jerk about it, but she was a slut and I really didn’t care about her feelings. She would be Lune by name only.

Dinner time

I frantically finished preparing dinner. The addition of 6 guests had us behind and if dinner was not ready on time, I was the one Alpha Damon would punish. We quickly set the table only to finish as the Pack entered the dining hall.

That is when it hit me like a bus! The smell caused Nova to freak out. It was a mix of sandalwood and geranium. Most wolves can’t sense their mate until they turn 18, but since I turned years ago I have been able to smell my mate. However, I could not let anybody know.

Nova was going crazy in my head. She wanted to see her mate. I had to keep her under control. I knew from my earlier conversation the BloodMoon Pack was here to pick up Milly. If I messed up anything I would be killed. I wonder if my mate was one of the warriors or maybe the Beta. I was the daughter of a Beta, so a Beta would make sense.

As much as I wanted to see my mate, it was too dangerous. I finished my work and attempted to escape out the back, but Alpha Damon mind linked all the Omega’s that had prepared dinner to return to the dining hall. Apparently, the guests wanted to thank the entire Omega Crew for dinner.

I made my way back into the dining hall and filed in behind the other Omegas. That is when I felt the burning of somebody watching me. There was a pull like I had never felt before and that was when I made eye contact with the most beautiful man I had ever seen. He was tall, muscular, and tan. With the most amazing dark brown eyes I had ever seen. They were almost black, they were so dark. I wanted to run to him and run my hands through his jet black hair. I felt myself blush and I smiled softly at him.

And then it happened…..

“BABY!” Milly shrieked and MY MATE turned to her and planted a kiss on her cheek. Before wrapping his arms around her. All while maintaining eye contact with me. He didn't return my smile. He looked disgusted as he looked at me. I am sure he was wondering how he got paired with a skinny Omega. But wasn't he supposed to love me unconditionally?

I could see his lips moving but I couldn't hear what he was saying. As he held Milly I felt my heart break. It was as if somebody stabbed me with a shard of ice. The blood in my veins felt like ice and the pain was almost unbearable. My smile, however, remained. I held my head up high and walked from the pack house and right to my cottage. I would not give him the satisfaction of seeing me upset.
