Chapter 10

861 Words

"Mira, I'm sorry. For everything," Kade said, his voice low and raw. I could feel his pain, his regret. But what does it matter now? It's all happened. I couldn't act like his rejection and I looked away, trying so hard to hold my tears back. I didn't answer. I focused on wrapping his wounds, my hands moving on their own. Why now? Why after all this time he decides to say sorry? "You don't have to believe me. But I never stopped thinking about you. I never meant to hurt you. I thought…. I thought I was protecting you. " I scoffed. "Is that supposed to mean something now?" "No." His voice was quiet. "But it’s the truth." The so-called truth didn't matter anymore. He rejected me. And whether he meant to or not, it broke me. "You’re done," I said sharply, standing and stepping back.
