SWITCH OF SOULS

CHAPTER 1

A SERIES of memories flood her mind. Starting at the beginning of her life.

She's Mahlyeegan Lauré. , 25 years old, an orphan at a very young age. Her mother died when she gave birth to her, while his father died while performing his duty as a soldier.

Her Grandparents– On her Mother's side– took the initiative to take care of her, but apparently, a year and a half after they took her, they died for an unknown reason. Her Grandparents –On her father's Parents– doesn't have a choice but to adopt her, and died 3 years later because of a car accident.

Because of their deaths, her relatives started to speculate that she was unlucky and cursed, a disgrace to the family.

She was only five at that time.

An organization named Heaven on Earth Foundation –It's a home shelter for abandoned child her– They took care of her. Despite her bad reputation, they didn't believe the rumor that circulated around her. Mahlyeegan was thankful enough that someone had a good heart to take her to the shelter. It was a good place to live in.

Some couples adopted her, but she didn't stay in their care for over a month, because the moment they heard the rumors about her, they would immediately get her back to the Heaven on Earth Foundation, and adopt another child instead of her.

But, of course, some skeptical couple didn't believe such a rumor and willingly adopted her like Mrs. And Mr. Ferrer. They said that no child is cursed, they're a blessing. The couple were wealthy, but they had no children because Mrs. Ferrer was barren The couple adopted her.

Mr. Ferrer is a general, and coincidentally, he was the commander of her father who died in the war. Mr. Ferrer told her a story about her brave father. And because of that, they formed a special bond together as a father and child. She was happy that finally, after 3 years of waiting, someone was willing to adopt her.

And it was the happiest years of her life. Mahlyeegan felt happy for the first time in her life someone treated her like their own child. She learned to love the Ferrer Couple. She treated them like their own family, but it seems the curse was real because, after seven years since they took her, the couple died in an accident. A plane crash was the rarest accident that ever occurred, 1 per every 13.7 million passenger boardings globally.

Since then, she has once again become a talk in the town. They called her a Cursed Child. She could feel people distancing themselves from him; even the mothers told their children not to go near her.

She felt devastated when her adopted parents died. Honestly, she loved them more than her real parents, who she hadn't met since she was born. Because of what happened, the relatives of the Ferrer couple kicked her out of the family.

Mahlyeegan ends up on the street because her aunties and uncles—the siblings of her adopted parents — sell their house to her. It was her inheritance that the Ferrer Couple left for her, but they said she was not their real daughter, so they refused to give her her inheritance. And keep the money to themselves.

The Shelter like Heaven on Earth—the organization she was staying in before Ferrer adopted her—refused to take her in because she was too old for a Foster Care like that, and not only that, they were also afraid that something bad might also happen to them, by taking her in. Besides, no one wanted a cursed child like her.

The bank refused to let her withdraw the money she saved for the whole duration of her stay as the Ferrer Couple Child. They told her to just come back when she’s of legal age, which will happen three years from now. At the age of 15, she ended up in the street.

She experienced eating spoiled food, eating the leftover food of the people at the restaurant, drinking water from the rain, sleeping in the trees or cave. The only means of her survival is to ask for money from the people on the streets.

One year after living in the streets, she realizes the world is cruel. It's like some kind of torture to less fortunate like her, but living in a world without a dream is like a body without a soul. Like a person who lives for nothing. So, she decide that she need to study and earn money, so she doesn't need to live like this forever.

When she was finally able to withdraw her savings, the first thing she did was to make a business and continued her Education, Because she's born genius some organizations help when they recognize her ability, and help her to support her studies in College Abroad.

Four years of hard work, she graduated as a Summa c*m Laude from Lumina University and got a Presidential award for having a 4.5 GPA. Lumina University is the Number 1 top school in world, Graduating thier as Summa c*m laude means a lot of opportunity line up for you.

At the age of 20, she became a United States Navy Admiral, the first woman to become a four-star admiral, and became the youngest Admiral. She Also Built Business Empire that could stand alone without her.

Despite her success in life, something is still missing. Her longing for a family still has a big impact on her heart.

By giving back to all the blessings she received. She built a lot of foundations all over the world for homeless people like her before. She doesn't want them what she experienced before.

Recently, while she was performing her duty, she led a group to rescue a civilian from the hands of a terrorist.

And when they are on their way to the Head headquarters–

"The helicopter exploded!" she exclaimed when she remembered her last memory.

"Did I die back then?!" She asked shockingly, refusing to accept the truth. " Am I dead?!."

"Isn't obvious?". She said with a mocking tone. "Do you think you'll survive that kind of explosion? What do you think you are? An Immortal?"

Mahlyeegan shook her head in disbelief.

"No! I'm not dead! This can't be! You're tripping! And Besides-" She looked around the place. "This doesn't look like heaven; It looks different."

"This is not heaven" The Mysterious woman reply.

Mahlyeegan gasped. "Am I in hell?!" She said shockingly.

Mahlyeegan will accept the fact that she's dead. She knows what kind of work she has got. It's indeed a dangerous line of work. She had ready herself way back then, but she couldn't accept it if she was in hell. Mahlyeegan doesn't remember any bad deeds she did before she died.

The woman looked at her with an annoyed face.

"oh! Come on, I thought you're smart? Look around, Human. Did you see any fire around? Do you feel hot and in pain? No! so obviously this is not Hell!" she explained impatiently like she was done with her.

"Then where I am?!"

"This is the center of life and death," she said with a now composed look and face. " My name is KALI, but they called me Guide. I'm the Guide angel who guides the soul. I lead you to the heaven of judgement, where Father the Creator will decide if he let you enter into heaven, or put you on purgatory of trial, or bring you down on hell. I’m also in charge of guiding wandering spirits so they can cross over to the afterlife. I’m also the one who leads the spirits whose bodies will go to live."

"oh! So, are you some kind of Grimreaper?" Mahlyeegan asked curiously.

The Guide Angel looked at her angrily, her eyes were glowing, and she was hissing at her like a mad cat.

"WHAT?! Ofcourse not! Why do all the Mortals Think I'm a Mere Grim reaper?! That lowkie species can't compare to my greatness. The only job of a Grim reaper is to collect the soul into the body and send it to me and I do the rest of the job! I'm a Guide of Souls! Not a lowly collector!" Kali said, like she was really offended by what Mahlyeegan said. "A terrible human, Like you should go to a terrible place!"

"Whoah!, chill! I get it! You don't need to get mad," said Mahlyeegan when she saw the portal of hell starting to open when she get mad. She tried to calm her. "You're Absolutely the Great Being I met so far. Second to our Creator."

"Really?" The angel asked as confirmation.

"Absolutely" She heaved a sigh when the Angel started to calm down.

"Ehem." The Angel cleared her throat as she trying to hide her embrassment because of how she acted a while ago. "Anyway, Now that I have finally introduced myself, now you can follow me quietly." She said and started to walk away. "You need to hurry up, Human.! I have billions of souls to guide later."

Mahlyeegan stops. Is this the end of her life? That's it? After she had been through all her life. Is that it? Of course she knew the real reward in this life was to enter the kingdom of our creator, but she didn't experience the life she wanted, the life she had a family who would love her, despite her flaws, and to have a family of her own.

"Why is life so unfair?" she asked her seriously.

"What?" Kali asked somewhat shock of what she heard.

"I don't want to die yet. I have things I want to experience. Why didn’t you just take the terrorist who blew up the helicopter we were riding earlier? Or the government official who did nothing but to corrupt. There are so many people you could have taken—why me? I’ve been nothing but a good person." Mahlyeegan said.

"Human, Human, Human," the angel said while shaking her head.

"You always say the same thing," she said. "I don't want to die, Why me?! I can't die just like this, why now? I want to live, what will happen to my mother, my child, my father, my siblings etc. etc." She said while mimicking the sound of voice of human every word she said? That all sounded nothing but mocking.

"You always complain about something you, humans, are also at fault." she said while sounding like a mom who's scolding her daughter. "You should do everything you need to while you're alive, in your case You wouldn’t have died if you hadn’t taken that kind of job. You knew from the start that your work was dangerous, but you still went for it. And now you regret dying so early."

Mahlyeegan couldn't rebate her. She fell silent because the Angel was right.

"Anyway, Let's need to hurry up, in less than 0.33 sec. A hundred and fifty souls will come, so please walk faster. Don't be a burden to me anymore. Come o– Excuse me what are you doing?"

The angel stop when she saw Mahlyeegan start to step backwards.

"No! I will not go! I don't want to die?!"

"What do you mean you don't want to die? You're already dead! Your time is up, It's time for you to leave!"

"No! I want to live!."

Mahlyeegan turned around and started to run away. She didn't see anything because of heavy white fog around. But that doesn't stop her. She just keeps on running away from the Guide angel.

The Guide Angel looked at her with her usual bored eyes. The Angel rolled her eyes. Does she really think a mere soul like her can run away from a Guide angel?

"What a Stupid soul."

She commented and followed the fleeing soul.
