"Mama please, who am I? What am I made of? am I the daughter of a deity? Or..or.. am I a witch? am I really your daughter"? Rita asked amidst tears. Cecilia was heartbroken, she loved her daughter but couldn't tell her the truth nor solve her problem for fear of the unknown. She held her close and comforted her untill she slept off.
"I will someday tell her the truth but definitely not today. Yes, the truth will break her but it cannot be hidden for long. The signs are manifesting, I have to think of something that will distract her for a while. I have to act fast", she soliloquized.
Later that night, Cecilia had a terrifying dream. She was walking along a lonely path when suddenly, the weather condition worsened. She hurried home but her feet were too heavy to move. Bats flew across her face, slapping her with their wings and giving her scratches. She screamed but no one came to her rescue. She tried to run back but a black mamba appeared behind her, positioned to strike. Then she saw a bull-horned man with scaled skin and firey eyes approaching her. His teeth were long and bloody as he bared them in a menacing smirk. His nails were long and dirty as though they have never been cut for generations. He wore a long black robe and his aura was intimidating. She felt her end had finally come. She tried to plead for forgiveness but her vocal cord disappointed her. She could only open her mouth but couldn't speak, she was visibly shaken. All these while, the horned man never uttered a word.
After what seemed like eternity, the horned man spoke up. "I am Ekwensu, the god of destruction and confusion", he said. "You have my bride in your household but you have refused to let her know her real identity. You should tell her. Tell her she's the wife of a god. Tell her she is special, tell her we made a deal. Tell her to prepare for me, I will come to claim what is rightfully mine in no distant time.... TELL HER.... TELL HER... YOU SHOULD TELL HER....".
His thunderous voice got her on her knees as she prayed to the Almighty to spare her life and not let this strange being take her life. She woke up screaming and jumped off the bed. She quickly turned on her lantern, still palpitating. It took her moments to put herself together and come to terms with the fact that it was just a dream but she had to do something fast. Rita had to know the truth, they were running out of time and delay could be dangerous.
