She knew it was best to put some distance between them but the vampire chose not to. She lived for such moment, the talks that she and Lea had when they were together, “How’s your day, my angel?” “Good I guess. But, don’t tell my parents this, I do miss travelling,” Lea revealed in a low sigh. The three gap years she had taken after graduating high school had been the best ever. She’d travelled the world with Maddie and a few of their high school friends, exploring, adventuring and just living life as the days came and went. “I miss not having to worry about turning assignments in or about grades and getting to classes. It was fun when all I had to fuss about was what I would eat,” Lea chuckled at the memories. “Remember when we were in that boardwalk at the bayou preserve park and we saw a…” “A bullfrog.” “Yes, a frog. It was huge and scary,” Lea stated, recalling the moment her aunt had once joined them on their travels. They’d both gone out to sightsee in a bayou that had a boardwalk through the swamp when she had jumped in fright and onto her aunt’s arms at the sight of the huge amphibian. Jillian smiled at Lea, “I know what you mean, my angel.” Her mate was as free-spirited as she was. The only thing that had made her settle down had been finding Lea. Her mate had anchored her down in one place. “But, remember, education is very important. Once you’re done with it, everything else that you want to do. You’ll be free to do it,” Jillian advised, as she gazed into her mate’s eyes. The blue in them was ocean-like. Their shade as cool and inviting as waves on a summer afternoon. “I know,” Lea huffed and slumped exaggeratingly on her chair. “Did you have a class today,” Jillian asked. “Yes,” Lea answered and pulled her pose to an upright one. She swallowed at the expanse of skin before her eyes. The black high heels made her aunt's long legs look wickedly sexy and the fact that the vampire had crossed them at the knees made her look devastatingly gorgeous. God, how she yearned to skim her fingers and feel how soft the skin felt. “Actually I… I…” Lea stammered, her thoughts incoherent from the view. If Maddie were present she would surely be laughing her head off at her lack of composure. “Can… can you help with something?” “Sure,” Jillian answered, leaning forward. “What is it, angel?” “Um… just a question I have and need... need your opinion on,” Lea said, reaching behind her and into her tote bag. “Um… just a minute, let me grab my... ugh god damn it,” Lea cursed at the pain shooting up her right hand. She pulled her hand out and looked at her index finger. The reddened little cut on it soon pooled with bright red blood. Lea quickly put the finger in her mouth and sucked, hoping the bleeding would stop, but as soon as the finger was out so was the blood. “No! No! No! It’s not stopping.” “Let me see?” Jillian said, moving from her chair. She grasped her niece’s hand as she knelt before her in the space between her legs and examined the injured finger. The cut didn’t appear to be deep but it was bleeding a little profusely. “What… what are you carrying in there? Knives?” “No. It’s just my notebooks and a few stationery,” Lea stated, distracted by the blood. The spring from one of her spiral notebook had come out at the end from all her tugging and it had cut her finger. “Ugh, where are they? Do you have any tissues or wipes? I think i don't have any left. Aunt Jillian? Do you?” Her questions were met by silence and Lea stared down to find the woman looking at her bleeding finger fiercely. “Aunt Jillian?” Lea called out. The red hue in her aunt’s eyes was hard to miss. The vampire seemed to be spellbound and ravenous for her blood. “Aunt Jillian? Here,” she posed, pushing her finger towards the woman’s lips. “I don’t think that’s a good idea, angel.” “Why?” “No,” Jillian hoarsely turned down the offer but didn’t move away. Her eyes closely followed a droplet as it streaked down Lea’s finger to her palm. “No,” Jillian weakly repeated to herself as she watched the crimson streaks with fervent longing. Growing up, Lea had watched her mother kiss away the cuts and grazes, making everything better. Healing her. At first, she never understood how the cuts easily healed up, but after learning that her mother was a vampire, in fact, that half her family comprised of vampires that had healing abilities and lived on blood. That realization had rocked her world. “Why not?” Lea questioned, scooting to the edge of her seat. Her aunt’s antsy behavior was questionable and immodest for their current situation. “It’s just a little blood aunt Jillian? It’s not like I’m asking you to bite me, right?” “It’s not right. I can't take your blood,” Jillian knew she was being hypocritical, her words greatly contrasted her actions. Her hold on Lea’s hand was snug, unrelenting. Moreover, her eyes and protracted fangs told a very different story. “Aunt Jillian. It’s okay,” Lea comforted. She hooked her fingers through the vampire's hair and pulled the head even closer. Her heart thudded rapidly in her chest as she watched the vampire hesitantly draw nearer. “I want to taste you,” Jillian confessed as she stared on completely entranced. “I’ve always wanted to taste you, my angel.” “Then do it,” Lea whispered, her voice barely above a whisper. Jillian’s nose was acutely picking up on her mate’s blood, how sweet and tempting its scent was. Just a lick, a little lick was all she needed to assuage this burning hunger. The vampire lowered her head, her eyes never losing sight of the prize. Just a lick. "Aunt Jillian?" No. Jillian shook her head hard, dispelling the dangerous thoughts. She couldn’t risk a taste and not go wild with wanting afterwards. She was already immensely addicted to mate, taking her blood would be the final nail to her coffin. Once she tasted Lea, she knew she’d never drink from anyone else. Lea’s blood would be the epitome of her existence and Jillian didn’t trust herself to stop. A single taste and she would definitely lose herself to the euphoria that was her mate's presence, taste, essence and sheer presence. This. This was her ultimate temptation.
